Morrissey house was my most favourite restaurant in London for the last 10 months until today August 2 2018. I order food from here 2-3 times a week as do all my co workers. I work in the customer service industry in the area and I send all my customers over there 20-40 people a day. Busy weekends definitely more. Today while eating on the patio I saw 23 people I referred over while getting my supper. The drinks and apps we ordered were great no issues, The meal I had ordered had one minor issue but got it fixed (slowly) but not a huge deal. My husband loves the steak here and has ordered it many times. He orders a bloody rare steak. His steak was grey. Definitely not the way we order our steak. We had asked the server (older man with little ponytail) his opinion about this and he said it looks fine to me. My husband politely says I really don’t think it is, to which he replied well what would you like me to do about it? (With a snarky tone. ) “Would you like me to get you a new one ?” My husband replied “no I don’t because I don’t like to do that I’ll just eat it!” To what he replies “again would you like a new one? “ (very very rudely) my husband at this point is very upset at the waiter for his tones says “no I don’t not want it at all. I’m not really not hungry anymore.” The server took it away, when he came back my husband ordered a 3rd beer (in the hour and half we had been there) to which the server replied, well your gonna have to wait awhile. Then we received a new server, she’s kind and she brings him his drink. My husband asked for another beer to be brought out because it took awhile for the last one, so he would just pre order it so he doesn’t have to wait as long. She had no issues and went back inside. Last call comes and we had been there for almost 3 hours. He asked if he could order a beer and she says no your cut off you’ve had way to much to drink. He wasn’t even close to being drunk and he wasn’t even driving. We ubered down so we could drink. Another person at our table had 4 doubles and one single vodka redbulls. Another lady sitting at the table across from us order a vegetarian quesadilla and had asked for no chicken because she’s a vegetarian and when she told the server theres chicken in it, He said are you sure? Again in a very Snarky tone! So rude. Very disappointed in the way we were treated here today, we will not be back and I will not be sending customers ever again and when they ask if it’s good I will say no. I will also be telling my friends/coworkers and past customers I have sent in the past about this treatment. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I had to go into to grab the bill because no one would bring it out and the male sever wouldn’t even look up at me. Just a petty...
Read moreThis used to be my favourite restaurant. I brought everyone I could here, including dates, and my mother, who is a fairly picky eater. I've tried many of their dishes, but the meatloaf was my absolute favourite. A couple years ago they massively expanded their menu, and since then, every time I ate there, the food was just a little bit less tasty then the last. Meats in most dishes didn't seem as fresh, portions got smaller, and the sauce for the meatloaf got progressively sweeter every time I ordered it to the point where it was sickeningly so. It got to the point where it was almost a dessert like level of sweetness, way beyond anything that should ever be served with a savory dish, and I just stopped ordering it entirely. The final straw came when I ordered their braised short rib one night. The meat had clearly been braised days and days before, it was not fresh at all. The braise was not done well. A braised short rib should be fork tender, I was struggling to cut this piece of meat with a sharp knife. And to top it all off, the "gravy" served with the short rib was sickeningly, sickeningly sweet. It seriously tasted like my beef was braised in pancake syrup. I'm not opposed to sweetness in savory dishes, but the overwhelming overall taste of the dish was that of sugar. It went in the trash after about 2 bites. I don't know what happened, but you could tell whoever used to make the food actually cared about the result. But their food just tastes totally phoned in now. It's like the person making the dishes has no idea what they are supposed to taste like, and can't be bothered to care. So I don't eat here any more. On a positive note, anything they baked in house was always really, really good and I'm sure it still is. The soft pretzels are amazing, and so is the sticky toffee pudding. The wings are good, and a healthier option than the deep fried wings at most places. The breakfast is also very solid, the bacon and sausage they use are good quality and tasty. They have an amazing beer selection, and their prices are very reasonable. They have a great patio. The wait staff are super friendly, and amazing at their jobs. The building is really cool, and eating at the restaurant and seeing the different...
Read moreWorst customer experience ever The sever was new and it showed! Didn’t write anything down and messed up every aspect of our meal. We got two salad and soup combos. My friend asked for no chicken because she’s vegetarian. The salad had chicken. They said they would take the chicken off the bill but didn’t fix the order. And ended up applying the discount to the wrong bill. She forgot my soup completely, and I asked for another dressing and it took nearly 14 minutes to get the soup and I had to ask a second time for the dressing. We were one of 3 tables. My friend asked for a blended coffee, the sever was gone for nearly 10 minutes when she said she couldn’t find the mix. And had to make another drink but didn’t know what other coffees were on the menu and still brought the wrong drink. I asked what was in the dressing and she wasn’t sure. We complained to the manager and he just said sorry and walked away. My friend got a mimosa and again they didn’t have the ingredients to make it. I was in the bathroom so she asked the server to return so I could get a drink and she didn’t come back. I had to go up to the bar to ask for another beer, she forgot a moment later and came to the table to ask what beer I had wanted. We asked for boxes. She didn’t bring a box for the soup so we had to ask the other server. She than came over to give us our bills, but I had a full beer and my friend wasn’t finished either so we asked for more time. We had to ask the other server/ manager for another drink and that we were frustrated for being rushed. He brought the other drink but realized my friend was charged for the chicken salad in full. The manager argued with us that he had put the discount on her bill but we realized he had applied it to my bill instead. She than came over to ask for payment even though we both had full drinks. Absolutely awful customer service. They did apply a 50% discount to our meal but we have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade and never had any problems. Very disappointed, since this was my friends birthday lunch and it’s one of her favourite...
