I really didn't want to do a one star review, but we have been getting horrible service and mix up from here one too many times. I think most of the issues start from the top down, as in from the owners unfortunately.
I do not think there's any guidelines to properly train their staff and how to better themselves, so I'm going to give a few pointers to hopefully better them:
Customers are what makes a business run, so pay attention to them promptly and attentively. We've had to wait over 30 minutes in the past to be just acknowledged, not even going into times it takes for servers to come to the table.
As soon as people leave, tables should be getting cleared, quite often there would be dirty tables sitting vacant with customers waiting in line for a table. Instead of the servers sitting in the back waiting for food to come out to serve out, they should be at the very least spending that minute or two they wait, cleaning the tables to get more tables turned. Or to also see who they haven't greeted and go already greet them, and offer them water at the very least.
there's no orders of priorities on what should be appetizers and what should be main courses. Sometimes what people order expecting as appetizers, end up being desserts course.
be more attentive to customers order, call them back to them to confirm if need to. Order mistakes or missed things happen rather often there. Taking 30 seconds to confirm everything will help clear some of that up.
when the owner is there (I'm presuming he's the owner by the way he asks people things and does things anyways). Instead of just looking around in the kitchen for things to do, you could be setting an example to the servers by running out, cleaning, seating customers, making sure at least drinks are being refilled. Or if you're not going to do it yourself, delegate it. If you see servers just sitting there waiting on food to come out, let them know to go do so. I would be embarrassed to see customers come in and end up cleaning and clearing their own tables or tables for others. We've had to do it ourselves too in the past.
The only saving grace you have there, is the younger skinner gentleman working there. Anytime he's there, he's the only one that runs circles around everyone and will meet and greet people even if they're not his own tables, and goes around cleaning up the whole place and trying to make things right for everyone I feel. I hope that he goes recognized in all this...
Read moreSadly, another disappointing experience at a Lebanese restaurant in London. My two previous visit before my third and last onewere not as bad and if my third visit was the same I would have given three stars. But this it was just horrible. I ordered two platters to go, one is Flafel and the other one is Shish tawook. First of all, I didn't get any Garlic with the tawwook or Tahineh with the Falafel. The previous visit, I had to specifically ask for garlic. I just assumed that they just simply forgot to put in the bag and I was glad I didn't forget. That last time I just forgot to ask and it seems that they make a habit out of forgetting. The shish tawwok, had so much paprika on it. It tasted, like it had been overheated, it was very dry and definitely not cooked over a lebanese style barbecue, but rather on a griddle. I can tell by the flat griddle marks on the chicken. The falafel had so much garlic that the whole house just reeked of garlic smell. It was simply not edible. As for the fattoush, it had big chunks of soft and tasteless tomatoes as well as big cuts of wilted lettuce, which ended up in the garbage. The fries, like every other Lebanese restaurant in town are the frozen lower end fries, that also ended up in the garbage. I normally go with rice, but I decided to mix it up this time. The only good thing that we could eat from this $30 meal was the hummus. In other words, we paid $30 for a small portion of hummus and bread. Will never go back...
Read moreNotes from a quiet semi-regular. For me this place is definitely better as a "take-out" place so to speak. I have been there plenty of times both when it's busy and other times when I might be the only other person there. I find during both instances that it's common that unless I specifically ask for something to drink I won't even be asked if I would like water (definitely a must when I get their platter and a side of hummus). I definitely do feel when it's busy the servers tend to give more attention to their regulars as opposed to a quiet semi regular. Which I guess is fair but nonetheless can get frustrating when trying to get extra bread when you seriously overestimated your bread rationing abilities. The quality of the food I say is above average from other similar places across the city. I do admit I get excited everytime when I see the steam come off the bread and I know that in the next 5 seconds it'll be dipped in their hummus. Their prices in my opinion are average compared to other places in the city. Even though I lose out on my bread hummus experience I enjoy the whole shish shawarma experience more at home where I know I don't have to wait on anyone to...
