Disappointed with my visit. I was informed by my mom this was the best fish and chips in town so I decided to try it with her. Met her there she was already seated. I noticed no menus immediately. I watched the lone waitress moving around the very small dining area looking for ways to keep busy, checking her phone from time to time. I stared at her and she looked at us 3 times but didn't come over. After waiting 7 minutes without menus she walked over and asked if I wanted a menu, I replied yes. So then she left and went to do some other things. 3 minutes later returned with menus. I just want to clarify, she wasn't busy, she was moving around as if to keep busy, finding little things to do, it was not busy at this time maybe 7 or 8 customers. We gave our order and she wrote it down on her note pad, and we continued waiting. She didn't bring the drink I ordered but I remained patient, I didn't really need it until the food arrived, that took about 15 minutes. When she brought the food I asked about my coke zero, she said "I didn't hear you order that". She had a note pad and wrote down the order, what is so complicated "Cod and Chips with a Coke Zero", all in one sentence and statement. She then went off did a few more things, and then after brought my drink. She displayed no priority what so ever in customer service. The fries were very good, the fish was mediocre, the service was poor. The place was relatively clean but aged. Lots of flies in the place, in fact that was one of the waitresses regular tasks, walking around empty tables and shooing the flies off the tables and exposed squeeze top ketchup bottles. Take out is likely the way to go. The gent running the counter seemed very upbeat and attentive, engaged immediately so I could pay our bill. $53 for two fish and chips and...

This was our 1st time ordering from Olde London Fish & Chips. No question they use nice clean oil to fry the fish in. You can ALWAYS tell. The halibut portion is certainly not overly generous but yes it was good. The restaurant has sit down service and take out of course. We walked in and ordered the food to go. We requested one Halibut & fries; one Halibut dinner (incl. roll and coleslaw). The cashier asked us if we wanted Tartar Sauce in the take-out bag. We said yes please. When we got the food home and opened the bag, there was no Tartar Sauce (and of course we love it and had NONE at home to use; there was also no roll) I didn't take the time to do this Google review over a silly roll (though the Tartar Sauce is a different story if you consider it a necessity like fries go with ketchup or gravy.) I'm writing it because on their website, there is a option to submit a comment to their establishment. I did so, just letting them know all of the above. They state that they are a family business and I am a new customer. No acknowledgment whatsoever. I was not expecting a free dinner for 50 because they missed a roll, tartar sauce and overcharged me for the "dinner" option that I didn't receive. If a restaurant values your business, you need to prove that when even a small error has been made by simply acknowledging the comment or complaint. I receive no response. So, for this reason only, I have been there for the first,...

Went for AYCE with my mum. Our server was Jody (Jodi?) and she was just lovely. Friendly attitude, super helpful, and seemed genuinely interested in making sure we had a good time. Mum had the haddock, I had the AYCE whitefish. The batter was golden and crispy without being overly hard or too soft, and gave a satisfying crunch with each bite that was accompanied by a subtle fluffiness. The fish itself was gorgeous, perfectly cooked. Nice and tender with a gentle firmness to it that felt satisfying to chew -- not rubbery and overcooked, and not mushy either. I'm not sure if the tartar sauce was made in the restaurant, but I didn't particularly care. It was tasty beyond belief and had generous chunks of pickle in it. The fries were quite nice! Cooked as they should. They're fries. Good fries. But, ultimately, just fries. There's a reason the phrase is "fish and chips" and not "chips and fish". The fish is the star of the show. My only complaint is that the restaurant itself is a bit drab. It's all grey and honestly doesn't give off the most inviting feeling. And the plates are far too small for the VERY generous portions they give, but that can easily be resolved by asking for an extra side dish. If you're looking for an unpretentious and delicious place to get your fishy fix, I simply can't recommend Olde London enough. $14 for an absolutely massive plate of fish and chips is an insane bargain, especially if you're...

WARNING: DECEPTIVE MARKETING! Their website and in-store menus feature "Alaskan Whitefish" and "Alaskan White Fish" without the space. That led me to wonder if they were serving Alaska Whitefish (an actual species that is relatively uncommon and is missing the letter n after "Alaska") or quite simply a fish with white-coloured meat from Alaska. I initially believed that because they had listed items in the format of "Species and Chips" (e.g. "Haddock and Chips") in the menu, "Alaskan Whitefish and Chips" referred to an actual species of fish. However, based on the price and the fact that it was an all-you-can-eat item, I knew it was too good to be true. It also likely wasn't lake whitefish, which is an entirely different species. Eventually, when I stopped by the store to place an order, the staff admitted that their Alaskan Whitefish or White Fish was simply POLLOCK. You are not getting the true Alaska whitefish or even freshwater lake whitefish. For those of you who are not familiar with pollock, it is a low-end garbage fish that is used to make items such as imitation crab meat. It originates from Alaska and has a white flesh. So why don't they advertise "Pollock and Chips" on the menu when they advertise other species, such as haddock and cod, in the format of "Species and Chips"? I'll let you figure that out.

Apr 1 2025. Not an April's food joke. Very busy, waitress constantly knocking my coat on floor, all coat hooks were full when we arrived, got last open table. Cod and Haddock dishes looked nice but fish was not well drained. Chips were over cooked, too crunchy, got a lot of "bits" under top row of fries. Pop not out of a can, but from fountain machine. Tasted funky like nozzles hadn't been cleaned properly. $50 for two fish and chips and two pops. Plus 30 minute drive one way from St Thomas. Use to be a favourite weekly spot before Covid, now lucky if once a month, and based on today's experience probably only twice a year at most. Really disappointed. Very busy. Come out smelling like you've ate a 50's greasy spoon. (boomers will know what I mean) Food was mediocre. Chips not like they use to be. Prices are getting too high to drive up from St Thomas......Haddock and chips use to be $9, now $14......guess I'll be eating more at Halibut House in St Thomas. Apr 28 2023... met with friends, not my choice due to increasing prices at this greasy spoon. Chips now look like they been cooked in car oil; dark, soggy. Oh and they now charge for a glass of tap water with ice. Not a London favourite anymore...

Came w my family. First time eating here. Service was prompt even with a full house. Place is small, quaint, w booths lining the wall and some tables in the center. We ordered large bowl of coleslaw, it was fresh and not drenched in sauce, which is what we prefer. We ordered a bowl of chowder. The broth was creamy and didn't have a box powder flavor like other establishments. All for of us had the all-you-can-eat special. On each plate there's 3 - 4 pieces of fish w a side of fries. The batter on the pollock fish was nice and light and clean. And with every new piece that you order it is at the same quality which notes for good cooks in the kitchen. Each battered fish had enough crunch to it, almost similar to tempura but smoother n still had that crisp. Not oily at all. The chips weren't crispy but not soggy either. The ketchup tasted interesting. Beverages didn't taste watered down nor were they overpacked with ice. There is malt vinegar, regular vinegar, salt and pepper and tartar sauce served at each table. All and all, good service, good food, good eating.
