I've been a regular here for awhile now and always order the same thing. The Reuben, best sandwich of my life, an apple juice and an "iced chai"...
The service can be a little slow, but no biggie.
The lady with the long white ponytail is always soooo nice, except today she scolded me like a child and treated me like an idiot. It was so bad I may never go back.
I made my usual order and asked for an iced chai latte... She brought a hot chai latte and I reminded her that I asked for ICED. She immediately became visibly angry, began heavily sighing and repeatedly told me that by saying latte it means hot, latte means hot!
It doesn't, it means milk and you would think the word ICED would overcome whatever she thinks latte means.
So I asked her what it is actually called and she her eyes got huge and she shook her head and said ICED CHAI! You know, how someone speaks to you when they think you're a moron. To be fair it is called ICED CHAI on the menu but I've never had an issue calling it an ICED CHAI LATTE. It is literally a chai latte that is put on ice.
She took the hot chai to the man behind the cash and the visibly and audibly discussed me and they began laughing and shaking their heads. She then said "at least she didn't touch it" and I'm quite sure they were going to reuse it.
I felt scolded and embarrassed. I was just treated like an idiot and yelled at. I didn't enjoy my food afterwards because I wanted to crouch in a corner. She was extremely friendly to the two students beside us and the older couple on front of us.
It was my friend's first time after me bragging about the food and how friendly the staff was.
I doubt I will be returning after the treatment I received over...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFor sure a hidden gem in Kingston! Iāve never dined here before due to all the talk of them being a cult, however, if thatās what ensures they have the best and most loving tasting food? More to them! The food was served with a friendly smile and the staff were all so friendly and eager to chat! We had the veggie burger and the yellow deli sub( both vegetarian friendly!) As well as the soup of the day! The veggie burger is hands down the BEST burger Iāve ever had (coming from a regular meat consumer), the sub was delicious as well! All full of fresh ingredients and put together to perfection! The soup of the day was curried yam soup, and honestly I could indulge in that daily if given the chance! It was so rich and felt like a warm hug in every sip.
Honesty if you want delicious food with an old timey feeling atmosphere, this is the place!! The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated and very clean, the whole vibe feels like stepping into the cutest anime tavern without the alcohol!
Will be returning in the near future for more...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStep in here and you'll feel the unique and cozy vibes this place has to offer. It's close to Princess St., but with the decor you don't get distracted by the cars going by and can enjoy the relaxing vibe of the place. Really friendly staff who will engage in conversation and seem to be genuinely interested in their clientele.
Food was great. I had the turkey sandwich on rye, which is made in-house, and my wife had the veggie burger which wasn't dry and quite flavourful. They take some simple sandwich concepts and spruce them up with a sauce or aioli. We also ordered a coffee which was made to order and delicious. Didn't have a chance to try the desserts, but they...
