Willie's is a fun and casual seasonal restaurant in Port Dover. It is open from March through Thanksgiving. Finding complimentary parking anywhere near the restaurant is challenging, particularly on evenings and weekends when the weather is nice. Orders are placed at one of their walk-up windows. This format appeals to me because unlike just about every other restaurant in Port Dover, you aren't waited on and you don't need to leave a tip. The menu board is legible, their offerings are vast, ordering is simple, the staff are somewhat friendly, their prices are reasonable, and the food is prepared quickly. Diners tend to order and then find a seat on the patio until their orders are called. Perhaps what's most appealing about Willie's is that their patio is dog-friendly. Unfortunately, the beach at Port Dover is not. We learned that after our meal here with our two dogs.

The quality of their food is mediocre at best. We ordered a Willie's burger and a perch dinner with chili cheese fries. The beef, bacon, and cheese were good. The bun was not at all impressive. The available self-serve toppings were numerous and fresh. The perch tasted like something that came out of a box in the freezer section of a grocery store. You could tell just by looking at the fish that they were not fresh, local, or homemade. The waffle fries were soggy, the cheese sauce was peculiar, and the chili tasted more like salsa. It didn't resemble chili or have any ground beef in it from what I could see. While the food here was lacking, I would still go back in a pinch. It is quick, affordable, convenient, and...

I used to go here frequently and was generally never disappointed. Lately they have been really slipping. I mean, I know the price of things has gone up, but this was insane. Went there the other day to get an ice cream with a friend, who actually placed the order and brought them back to the car. Two medium cones were $16 and for this you would think they would be decent size cones, this was not the case. We were extremely disappointed.

I don't usually complain but since these cones were so small I couldn't help myself. I went back to the line and asked for them to add some more ice cream as there was about maybe .40 cents worth if you were lucky, The ice cream didn't even reach the top edge of the sugar cone! I asked why they were so small, her reply was "Its all in the bottom". I told her that's not the case because they were just bought. Her next statement was that they measure and weigh them. This again was a lie as my friend stood there and watched her put two tiny half scoops into the cone. The fact that they make excuses instead of fixing is very telling.

If you want a decent cone, do yourself a favour and don't go here. Its a complete waste of money, and when you complain, they make excuses. If I'd known I could add a picture to a review I...

Ordered the Willie’s burger & sausage on a bun. The burger was below average & the bun tasted stale. The sausage skin was way too thick and difficult to consume. The service standards were sub-par. If we didn’t begin by engaging with a simple “hi, how are you?” the individual taking our order would not have done so. It’s basic hospitality to greet guests in any front facing customer service position. It was our first visit to port Dover and we noticed the customer service was lacking in the area. The atmosphere and exterior design is what attracted us to try this food-joint out. Overall, it looks better from the outside. Plenty of tables available & some parking available. When our number was called to pick up our order we also felt negative energy. Low hospitality in general. We expected to witness more upbeat, excitement from the employees as the exterior design implied so. Prices were average but the food definitely...

The only thing I eat here is the Willie Dog. One is enough. The wein is about 1/2 lb. It's huge It's beach food. Dress your own from an outdoor garnish bar with lots of variety. No cutlery unless you ask. Fries are obviously frozen but it's AT THE BEACH! My only complaint is that they're not open in the winter! Went today for the Extreme Willie Dog. Meh! Disappointed. Dry wein. Rubbery bun. Condiments seem institutional. Chopped tomatoes were OK. Thinly sliced white onions were quite flavourless. The green relish isn’t what anyone would expect. It has an odd stake cucumber flavour. Fries were from frozen. No reason to go again. But I did go again yesterday. Had a footlong. Had it well done. The bun was top cut and actually extremely good! Lots of garnished. Ate it there in my car as it was raining. Ya, pretty good, really.
