I've been eating at the ARBOR since I was a young girl. The famous footlong and fries were a must have to start off your summer when I was younger. It's been a few years (eeekkk 8 years or so) since I was able to visit the Arbor and I have to admit, I was disappointed. The bun grew so big that it took away from the teenie shrunken hot dog... but the price also grew! It was $57ish for 4 of us to have a small fry and a footlong. No drinks. The fries were o.k. but I do remember the containers being a lot bigger and packing in a lot more fries. The taste was nothing too impressive at all!!! Yes there were a lot of condiments available... yes the service was rather quick (are these not made fresh anymore 😕... our girl turned around and grabbed the food so quickly that I wondered how long they'd been sitting there)...and the server seemed more robotic then friendly. I'm so sorry for this review. It pains my heart to admit that a once very honored tradition of the Arbor has turned into something that feels and tastes Blah! An absolute disappointment and honestly not somewhere I would return too or recommend. Do better... and bring back the family...
Read moreThis place is a walk-up hot dog & burger & fries joint. They have some seating on the sides of the building, but with the food being easy enough to carry (and even have individual carry trays to make it easier), you can either eat on the go or sit down. You want to get the hot dog, no question if you like hot dogs. Foot-longs that are great, buns that are better, and these are what this place is known for. The french fries are decent too to fill out the meal, or one of their ice cream cones which are great and bigger than you expect. A small soft-serve cone is definitely a good size to get the first time, but you can also ask the staff to explain the sizing if you don’t have cold-sensitive teeth like me. They have their own brand of drinks called “glows” (comes in orange and a variety of others) & these are light and refreshing but be warned that they do have pulp if you don’t like pulp.
I try to go at least once every summer but go more if I can & the...

I grew up in the Brantford area and spent lots of time in Port Dover until I was almost 30. We would often drive from Brantford to Dover to get their delicious dogs. Large footlong wiener in a top split steamed bun with an array of great topping. Never liked the Golden Glow drink but the fries were pretty good as well but we went for those hot dogs.
I happened to be in Dover this weekend and stood in a fairly short line waiting for my dog and fries. What a disappointment!! The wiener while still a foot long is a fraction of the size (around) that it once was. The bun was ok but with so little wiener in it - it seemed all bun. I threw away half the bun and ate it. I spoke with a friend who lives in Port Dover and apparently they changed years ago. Darn. It was once worth the trip to Port Dover.
No more Arbour Hot Dogs for this family - we’ll go for the Perch and Pickerel dinners I understand they...
