I had been harboring a persistent longing to venture forth to this establishment for a considerable duration, and at long last, the opportune moment presented itself today. Enduring the arduous journey to reach this culinary gem proved to be unequivocally rewarding. Primarily, the proprietors exuded a disposition of unparalleled warmth and amiability, rendering their assistance invaluable. Despite exclusively offering take-out services, they thoughtfully accommodated our desire to savor our delectable fare on-site by arranging a handful of tables outdoors and graciously provided us with disposable plates.
The gastronomic delights that graced our palates were nothing short of fresh and tantalizing, striking the perfect chord between flavors and textures. Remarkably reasonable in price, the portions were as generous as they were sumptuous. Among the culinary marvels, the shrimp emerged as the unrivaled epitome of gustatory pleasure. For forthcoming visits, I shall venture to impart a humble request to the culinary virtuosos, beseeching them to extend the frying duration for the fish ever so slightly. The desserts, too, proved to be a heavenly indulgence, contributing to an incomparably splendid experience that leaves an indelible impression.
In all earnestness, I cannot emphasize enough the excellence of this establishment, resplendent in its awe-inspiring allure. We had the sublime pleasure of sampling their renowned halibut fish and chips, alongside haddock and sticky toffee pudding. These offerings epitomized the art of culinary craftsmanship, rendering them irresistibly delightful and worthy of earnest exploration. The proprietors welcomed us with unparalleled warmth, and their attentiveness in frequently inquiring about our satisfaction bespoke a hospitality of unmatched grandeur.
With unbridled enthusiasm, I wholeheartedly endorse East Coast Fish & Chips as a quintessential destination if one finds themselves within the vicinity. The Halibut + Haddock & chips, a veritable symphony of flavors, showcased exemplary preparation techniques - a symphony of flaky, moist succulence encapsulated in a perfect crispy batter. The staff's congeniality only accentuates the allure of this culinary sanctuary, leaving one with an inexorable desire to return time and again.
This gastronomic haven is a resplendent gem deserving of its place among the culinary elite. The accolades of past favorites, such as Townline, are now overshadowed by the brilliance of East Coast Fish & Chips, following a change in ownership that brought forth an irreplaceable charm. Discovering this newfound treasure has undoubtedly imbued us with a sense of culinary satisfaction unparalleled in recent memory, cementing its position as our cherished...
Read moreFood is absolutely amazing! We ordered calamari, mushroom, onion rings, and scallops. The calamari comes with horseradish sauce. The batter is very thin, and the squid is cooked just right and not rubbery. The onion rings are okay. The cut are a little thin so it gets a little soft but the batter again is very crispy! Then the mushroom is cooked perfectly! It is very juicy inside and the batter is very thin and crispy. It comes with ranch sauce which is perfect for the mushroom. The scallops come in 5 pieces. They are as good as the mushrooms.
Then, we had the homemade halibut cream chowder soup. The temperature when served is just right. Not to hot to burn the tounge. And it tastes so good! There's a very good portion on fish inside and it comes with corn and carrots, too! I really love the creamy flavor and it also doesn't smell fishy!
Next is the fish and chips. After a long hike that day, I was really looking forward for the fish and chips and I used it as a motivation to finish the hike. And I am very happy the we come across this place. The fish and chips is worth the try and definitely a must try. The batter is so thin and crispy while the fish is so juicy and thick. They sell it per ounce. And so my alaska white comes in two huge slices because it is thin and each weighs 4 ounce, while haddock comes in 1 large piece. The chips on the other side is also crispy and homemade. They were cut just that morning. It is not oily or soggy. I was able to finish it. It comes with coleslaw as well on the side.
We ordered chili to go and he offered to give it to me still frozen so I can heat it when I want to. Since they're homemade, it was prepared already and just portioned. It was best partnered with bread!
I had the cheesecake as dessert. The crust is sweet but it was balanced by the cherry on it.
We went to this place with our dog and they welcome her as well. They even offer a fish on the house for her. And my dog loves it! I love how accomodating they are.
It is a small place but very cozy and aesthetically pleasing! They have very nice displays and the washroom is very clean as well.
The chef is very nice and friendly. He welcomed us in his store with a smile and a very good sense of humor!
All in all it was a very good experience. We experienced grear service, great food and great ambiance.
I live in Etobicoke but this is worth all the travel. My family and I will...
Read moreAfter reading such wonderful reviews about this restaurant, my husband and I decided that we would do a day trip to Orangeville to check it out. He is from the East Coast and we’re always keeping an eye out for a good snack of fish and chips. Upon arriving we were greeted by a friendly lady who is the owner. We ordered the Halibut soup, she did explain that it’s thinner broth then a chowder, we were good with that. We also ordered Haddock and chips and coleslaw (after confirming that it is creamy coleslaw) On the menu we noticed that they served sides of gravy and sides of dressing. So when we ordered the gravy and dressing to go on our fries she wasn’t at all surprised and actually referred to it as Newfie fries, we thought this is awesome! She knows what we mean. The soup arrived, it was a little thinner then chowder but we expected that. However, the fish must have swam through it as there was barely any pieces of fish, nor was there much in the way of potatoes, more like broken little pieces of over boiled potatoes, and absolutely no other veggies like carrots or anything else. It had a very slight taste of fish but very bland. Even adding a fair amount of salt didn’t help. When she asked how the soup was we were honest with her. She explained that she makes the base each day and adds fish and potatoes as she serves it...I don’t know but we thought that odd. The fish was “ok”, not great but not awful, little greasy. The tartar sauce was mayo, relish and ketchup mixed together. The coleslaw was not shredded cabbage, more like diced and barely any carrot and dressing. As for the gravy and dressing, we were both surprised when it came out to our table. It was gravy topped with a sprinkle of dry bread crumbs and parsley! Not the usual dressing that’s for sure. Even Stovetop dressing would have sufficed! We will not be returning and would not recommend this establishment to anyone, friendly staff or not, the food was less...
