My wife and I were staying overnight in Oshawa - and looking for something new to try. I Googled "Dim Sum" and Azian was the first restaurant to come up. Although they were supposed to be closing at 8:00 on a Thursday night and it was already after 7:00, we decided to give it a shot. We were seated immediately and there were several other tables still occupied, so we figured all would be well. It was more than just well - it was absolutely fantastic! We ordered Hot & Sour Soup, Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon rolls, the Deluxe Dim Sum Combo (it's at the end of the menu under "Chef's Exclusives") and the Vietnamese Spicy Fried Rice with Chicken. The soup came out immediately and was amazing. A huge bowl for $4.99 and there was plenty for each of us to spoon into our bowls. The Spring Rolls from the Dim Sum Combo - which contains two pieces of EIGHT different dim sum items (!!) - arrived next and were crispy and delicious. Next were the sushi rolls, all of the remaining seven Dim Sum items tastefully arranged in a giant steamer, and the rice. Let me just say that every single item in the Dim Sum Combo was absolutely perfect - I really couldn't single out one because they were all fresh, tasty, and amazing. WOW! The sushi rolls were both great - four pieces of each, which was perfect for the two of us. We were getting pretty full by then, so we just had a few bites of the rice. Although it was very tasty and light, we didn't feel it had much heat to it, so we mentioned that to the server. He suggested we ask for it extra spicy on our next visit, which we will. We took most of the rice back to our hotel room that night and put it in the fridge. When we returned home the next day, we popped it in the microwave for a couple of minutes and it tasted like it had just come out of the wok. Although it could have been spicier, it was certainly light and delicious. We especially liked that the chicken was cut up into small pieces, which was a nice change from the big chunks you often get in fried rice. We probably could have done without the frozen peas and carrots but, otherwise, it was a nice plate of rice. Overall, Azian is just an incredible restaurant. We barely scratched the surface on the various Asian dishes they offer (Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, etc.), so we can't wait to return and try some new items. However, we'll definitely get the Dim Sum Combo again, because it is simply outstanding. One final note - the service at this restaurant is excellent. We must have had three or four different staff members come to our table to see how we were enjoying the food - not being obtrusive, just genuinely interested in getting our thoughts. Super friendly people cooking amazing food. You can't go wrong...
Read moreWhen I first saw Azian, I was so happy to see a restaurant serving Chinese food in our area. As we walked in, the decor and ambience seemed nice (in contrary to the experience that followed). As we waited to be seated, not a single waiter acknowledged our presence. After 10 minutes, a little vexed, I went up to the bar and requested that someone seat us. I let this go as they did seem busy. Moreover, by now, I was looking forward to Chinese food. Excited, we ordered a few items and waited not knowing that the wait was going to be for 45 minutes.. and that was just for two of us, leaving the other two on our table waiting patiently for another 15 minutes. At this point, I was really upset. I had never had such a bad experience before. We cancelled the two items that were still to come, and shared the two items we had received between the four of us. The servers did not seem in any way sorry for their tardiness. I understand there are challenges in running a restaurant, expecially during peak hours. I worked at the second busiest Starbucks store in Toronto. So I know the challenges, but that did not mean our customer service was compromised in any way. I would never go back here and neither would I recommend this...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed coming to Azian Cuisine for dinner tonight! It was our first time trying this restaurant because we always see every table full here all the time from outside so we assumed it must be very popular. We ate the gyoza Dumplings, garlic sautéed beef tenderloin, and wonton soup as appetizers and they were all so delicious, warm and definitely a comfort food! Then we got the assorted Nigri sushi boat and we were amazed with the beautiful presentation and the freshness of the fish. This will be our new sushi date spot every time! For dessert we tried the deep fried green tea ice cream and holy cow it is so yummy, the crispy outter coating is airy and not greasy and the ice cream was silky and refreshing, such a great way to finish the meal. The staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere is very pleasant. It's a bit smaller but that makes it more intimate and cozy. 10/10 we...
