Today I happened to be at Popeyes (location in Oshawa: 1-1365 Wilson Rd N, Oshawa ON L1K 2Z51-1365 Wilson Rd N, Oshawa ON L1K 2Z5) with my mom to get some food. First of all, it was a totally different scenario there as per following the COVID-19 rules and protocol. There was so much confusion...nobody knows where to stand and wait for the order and where to wait to take an order and it was crowded. When I compare this to places like Tim Hortons, Starbucks and McDonalds there is organization and proper protocol/rules for COVID-19 including social distancing and one person at a time allowed. Even if you are just there for pickup the inside of those restaurants/eating places are clean and sanitized. There was a couple that had come after me and they came in front of me and cut me off and placed their order. I waited patiently and quietly for my turn to be called to the cashier to take an order but I was totally ignored by the owner/manager who saw me standing there. He was attending other people and taking their orders and giving them their completed orders. After quite some time I was finally called to place an order and stood on the side to wait for when my order would be ready. However, it took ages for my order to be ready. Finally, my mom who was standing in a corner told me that she was going outside as the inside of the restaurant was getting crowded. The other popeyes employee and team member behind the counter looked at me and asked me if I had placed an order (maybe she felt sorry for me?) and I said yes but the owner/ manager (taking the orders) was least bothered. After the longest wait and seeing other people’s orders completed before me I was handed my order. When I got to my car my mom asked me to open the bag as we were both so hungry and then I realized that the complete and whole order was not there and one order was missing and I was given no receipt. I was so frustrated and I had to walk all the way back to the restaurant and told the manager/owner and instead of being apologetic and feeling bad he said “no” and he said I didn’t place this order and when I asked for the receipt he told me it was okay and he wouldn’t charge me for that. I told him that this is not what I wanted and what bothered me was that he wasn’t paying attention in the first place and understanding and taking my order properly (and there was no level of respect or customer service whatsoever) and I told him that I wanted my order and not a favour. The bottom line is that the service at this Popeyes was very poor and the employees or management are least bothered as to how many people are inside the restaurant. There are no rules and regulations about turns, social distancing or anything else. Most people at most stores, whether retail or food chains are practicing protocol (as per COVID-19 rules) and it is important. I know that Popeyes Chicken is popular because of everyday specials and they are busy as a result but that doesn’t mean that they don’t have to follow the rules. Honestly, I wish people in the food business and retail industry were more appreciative, courteous and respectful towards the customers and made it their policy to provide good service which is part of their name brand and reputation. This is especially important in these current circumstances and safety comes first and to again be considerate and respectful to the customers. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Imram, Owner of Popeyes Chicken @1365 WILSON RD N (WILSON & TAUNTON), OSHAWA, ONTARIO L1K 2Z5, Canada. As soon as Imran learned that my husband is very ill, he immediately wholeheartedly, with so much compassion & kindness, offered to pay for our Popeye dinner. Imran never even took a second to think about it or second guess his decision to help us. He just immediately took the initiative, like a good neighbour. We were very grateful & surprised because NO ONE in this world, whether it be a large or small restaurant, a large grocery or warehouse store or even our families have never offered to help us, let alone pay for our entire dinner & then some. Imran was so respectful, kind & genuinely gracious to help us. We have never met an Angel like Imran!!! It must be in his DNA to have so much compassion from his heart; to have so much joy, pleasure & willingness to help people from all walks of life. There are very few people in this world who is like Imran. Seriously???... who does this at all???...Who graciously, genuinely & wholeheartedly helps fellow neighbours these days?... only very few people in this big world are extraordinarily special people like Imran!!! We seriously need more love & kindness in this world. I challenge any restaurants, grocery stores, or any organizations in this big world to go out of their way & give a lot of random act of kindness, love, compassion, willingness & respect to help people from all walks of life, like what Imran did for us! Imran is not only an Angel, he is also very kind, amazing, extraordinary & very special person, whom you only meet a few times like him in your lifetime!!! When I asked Imran what I can do for him in return, he simply said, "pray." That's it??? We were not very surprised considering his genuine compassion to help us & feed us. Deep in our hearts we will never forget what he did for us & we are definitely going to PAY IT FORWARD! Read moreI recently visited Popeyes Chicken with high hopes for a satisfying meal but ended up deeply disappointed and frustrated. My experience was marred by multiple issues, ranging from receiving cold chicken to encountering rude service. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Popeyes and will be exploring other options for my chicken cravings.
Upon ordering a 16-piece family meal, my expectations were for a delicious, warm feast. Unfortunately, that was far from reality. Out of the supposed 16 pieces, I was given 10 pieces of cold chicken. Dissatisfied with this, I kindly requested the employee to avoid giving me cold chicken when she was preparing the remaining six pieces. However, despite my explicit request, I was still handed more cold chicken. This lack of attention to my request demonstrated a clear disregard for customer satisfaction.
To make matters worse, the customer service I received was abysmal. The employee responsible for serving me not only failed to meet my reasonable request but also displayed a rude and unprofessional attitude. Even before I approached her about the cold chicken issue, she gave me dirty looks, which was both uncalled for and disrespectful. Such behavior from an employee is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the overall customer experience at Popeyes.
Additionally, the composition of the meal was highly unbalanced. I discovered that my box was filled predominantly with drumsticks and wings, leaving me feeling cheated in terms of variety and value. The lack of assortment in the chicken pieces further added to my dissatisfaction with the entire experience.
As someone who had planned to celebrate a birthday party with Popeyes Chicken, this experience was not only disappointing but also left a sour taste in my mouth. I expected a reliable and enjoyable meal, but instead, I received cold, inconsistent chicken, encountered a rude employee, and faced an unbalanced distribution of pieces.
In light of these significant shortcomings, I will not be returning to Popeyes. Instead, I will be exploring alternative options for my chicken cravings, such as Mary Browns or churchs chicken.
