Captain George Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Oshawa

So it's been about 20 years since I have been to this captain George restaurant and the sole reason that it's been that long it's because the last time I was there I'm spending like $30 plus on halibut and fries in like 2005 and the ladies giving me a extremely hard time about tartar sauce I love having tartar sauce lots of it on my Fiish and the ladies acting like The tartar sauce is gold I get it you're not making any money off the tartar sauce but I'm getting a tiny piece of fish I should be able to have as much tartar sauce as I want I wasn't even having that much she gave me 2 packages For 2 pieces of halibut And then was very rude to me about me wanting more At the time she was charging me 10 cents for every extra packet and I didn't care I'm like okay that's fine no worries like I'll give you another dollar give me 10 more packages But no she wouldn't even sell me that many it was like she was eating the fish and not me And I used to go to this place twice a month I loved this place I loved the breading on the fish the only thing I didn't like was the lady giving me crap about wanting tartar sauce on my fish like really tartar sauce we're not talking about the actual fish we're talking about tartar sauce not the fish tartar sauce we're talking about tartar sauce not even the fish not the actual fish that is so good...

AVOID AVOID AVOID . . . Is there a lower rating? Maybe 0.5. Firstly, to those who say this is the best fish and chips in the region - I pity you. Where have you poor souls been eating? The list of sub-rate items is lengthy. In the interests of brevity I will make a short list:

Chips are terrible. Absolutely terrible. Read the other reviews - see the ones that say the fries are frozen? Yep, they are. Imagine deep frying McCain frozen fries . . . you get the picture. Lady at cash is very unfriendly. I felt as if I was bothering her (see other reviews.) Nuff said Till drawer is left open (have a look when you pay.) Why? So they don't have to declare what they make. Nothing to do with the food, just an observation . . . There is a .25 charge if you use Debit. Why? I can see if if I am buying a .99 chocolate bar, but I am paying you ten dollars.

Bottom line - Awful product, unfriendly staff, excessive fees. If you want a better product go to Schooner (about 500 feet east.) If you choose to eat here, don't say I didn't warn you. I will...

I’m not sure what captain George’s your all going to saying friendly service. The wife at the cash is the most miserable person I might have ever met in life and she is the one dealing with customers and has ZERO customer service skills .she is ignorant on the phone ignorant if you want tarter sauce 2 tarter per 1 piece of huge fish stupidest rule ever !!!!especially when you are paying 60 dollars to feed a family of 3 . The owner who cooks is very pleasant not sure how he ended up with such a witch . He is kind has customer service and makes great fish . Should find someone to take over the wife’s job because your going to loose business with someone like her dealing with customers !!! I guess the reviews saying friendly great customer service was probably from friends and family because never have I been treated like a customer should be in this restaurant even when you do dine in she acts annoyed to serve you !!!...
