During our visit and 3 months stay in Oshawa from September to November 2022, we visited Diamond's Grill diner about 4-5 times. We enjoyed the hearty, sumptuous breakfast at all times. It is a simple, homely diner with red tiled walls, black-white diamond tiles flooring, red chairs. On entering the diner, one feels as if one has entered the era of the sixties. Gramophone record discs and posters of yesteryear musicians and actors like Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe adorn the walls and soft music is played in the background. There is an all-day breakfast menu. We always enjoyed a hearty, sumptuous breakfast - 3 eggs sunny side up/scrambled/omelette, with sides of ham or bacon and home fries, pancakes, french toast and of course loads of coffee during the meal. The dishes were perfectly cooked. The diner's Sri Lankan owner, Jagadeeswaran, popularly called Jay, is very friendly and amiable, welcoming you with a smile and striking up interesting conversations. Read moreIt is unfortunate that i have to give this restaurant an unfavorable review .. awaited a fair amount of time for them to at least call with an apology.. however instead of contacting the health department I have decided to be more lenient by posting a truthful review as we are all struggling in these times ..this is not just a case of poor food quality or poor service but dangerous ...we order breakfast delivery today and completely shocked.. food arrived cold as ice.. needed to be reheated... Pancakes were burnt and inedible.. long hair in eggs... But final shock was the steel wire likely from a steel wool scrubber...I don't think I need to preach about the dangers this thin piece of long wire could have in the human digestive system... Hence we cannot support this restaurant going forward... Shame how a little apology call could have gone a long way here... Showing concern...
Read moreI came here with a friend to relax and have a meal. Unfortunately the food was bland. The only reason i'm giving two stars is because the staff was very polite. Maybe over polite. My buddy and I were not even able to conversate with one another as the lady worker just kept talking to us. She was talking to us while we were waiting to eat, while we were eating and pretty much the entire time we were there.
The food was also overpriced and on the expensive side. I would back it up if it tasted good but it was bland. My buddy got the hot dog is supposed to be like a philly. The hot dogs were the ones you see at the local supermarkets small and skinny. They just tossed in a bunch of those and put in some cheese.
I rather go to the store a few doors down from them. They have great prices great food and the staff also let you eat in peace when your not trying to engage in...
