UPDATE:The owner called me.( March 17) It gets worse. The person who claimed to be manager was in fact a lying employee. The owner claims that person was fired. When I reiterated that my concern was there were problems with hiring and training, the OWNER told me that was because he, the OWNER of the business, needed to focus on his Driving School Business . Listen, someone who is running a business and gets constructive feedback from customers but defends their inability to do their job by providing adequate service/good food by citing demands of school or other businesses does not understand the demands of the Canadian restaurant economy. They are not owed our business. Keep in mind this an American chain, unlike other bbq joints in Ajax and Whitby. There is no reason to spend $30 on wings and four oz of ruined potato salad and wretched service when there are local Canadian business to enjoy. I love good bbq and am willing to pay top dollar but I'm no longer going to reward bad behaviour. Avoid at all costs, Durham peeps.
Original Review: Oh, wow. Don't order from here, friends. We started ordering from here and liked the food, but I had a really bad experience on Wednesday when I ordered some wings and potato salad on Uber. For some reason, when the salad arrived, it was covered in bbq sauce and there is nothing on the website menu or app menu to indicate that. When I called, the kid said" Yeah, we do that SOMETIMES". No apology, no can I send you something right now. When I spoke to the manager today, he was rude and said " Well, I'm going to give you a discount, what more do you want?" I had told him that I wasn't interested in free food, and that I was doing the decent thing by calling and letting him know as the person the owner has hired to train staff that the training was lacking. I was told that the manager was really busy and was a student and while at work, couldn't focus on, you know, doing his job of training workers. Look, there are tons of restaurants in this town, don't waste your money on people who can't learn and take accountability for a simple error. I will use the Courtice location...
Read moreI just got off a 5 hour flight with my father after a week trip where we flew ourselves home since the both of us are pilots. The both of us completely exhausted and starved.
I’ve been to dickeys before a few times and enjoyed the food. Service was nice as well so I thought I’d go out and get us a meal. I went to order a sandwich and a platter. I then raced home (40 minute round trip) so we could both enjoy.
When I got home all that was in the bag was the platter so I raced all the way back annoyed that I didn’t get to eat and wondering why I didn’t get my order.
When I got there I spoke with the employee who I had ordered from and completely denied anything I said. I wasn’t charged for the sandwich when I first went, though I had clearly stated that I wanted to order one. I had to wait longer to get my sandwich but more importantly wasted an extra 40 minutes of my time and gas. No apology or attempt to work anything out. I just bought another sandwich and went home.
Wanting to finally dig in I opened up the food and saw that it had changed in quality from the previous time I had gone. The mayo in the coleslaw I got looked brown which I didn’t want to risk eating and then the meat on both the platter and my sandwich was simply nasty in texture in taste.
Had to write a review and ask what the hell you guys are doing.
I love brisket and since it’s one of the only places that makes it in my area I would want to go back if it improved and I will take this post down if it does.
