Complimentary banchan offered with our meals. The flavours are there but I find that they are catering to the demographica in the area and were made on the sweet side.
The mild Gamjatang pork bone soup came at a speedy time and nice and hot. I also think it's on the extra mild side and could use more perilla seeds and softer potatoes.
The stir fried japchae was also leaning on the sweet side but still good.
Overall, I can say this is one of the most authentic Korean restaurant in Durham.
Would definitely recommend. They also have promos like spend $50 to purchase the chicken satay skewer at half price ($8) and also lunch specials and bentos.
Someone told me that there is a new Korean restaurant in Oshawa, so I had to try. When I walked in, first thing I noticed was misspelled, and awkward Korean writing on a poster. I had exactly the same experience in a Korean restaurant in Toronto, so I knew right away that this restaurant was not operated by Korean. We ordered four different dishes, and I was disappointed not because they were terrible, but they were not authentic Korean food. There were certain ingredients you will never see in certain Korean dishes. To me, it doesn't really matter who cooks my Korean food as long as they taste like Korean food. I once had an amazing Korean food in Australia cooked by a Russian! (He was actually a cook in Korea for a long time, so maybe it's a little different story!) Anyway. If you have never tried Korean food, then the place is ok. But, if you've tried Korean food before, and expect the same taste, you will be...
Read moreMy family and I have always loved Mom's Kitchen in Ajax, so we were so excited to see a new location in Oshawa, closer to home! This location is much bigger, but already very busy with customers. The food was just as delicious as the Ajax location! We ordered the seafood pancake, bibimbap and pork bone stew, all of which were very generous portions and very filling. There was a man sitting at the table next to us who kept complaining to the staff that his pork bone stew didn't have enough meat - personally speaking, I couldn't even finish my pork bone stew because there was so much (I happily took the rest home for another meal tomorrow), and I am a very big eater, so make of that what you will. The staff here are also very friendly and do their best to accomodate you. We will definitely be coming here regularly. Thank you...
