Update- The manager reached out and apologized for where the staff had gone wrong. Offered us a prime rib dinner for us and our family. Also invited us to come and do the burger challenge on the house! Food and service was great. I'd say they have made up for it and sounds like they're working on our original issues to prevent them from reoccurring!
2 friends and I wanted to do the burger challenge here a week ago Thursday. We realized this would be a substantial order, so out of courtesy we phoned thursday around noon and let them know there was 3 of us coming wanting to do the challenge, and asked if this would be any issue. The woman on the phone assured us of no problem. Upon arrival after waiting a decent amount of time for our drinks, we ordered the challenge. Again after waiting some time our server comes back to the table to let us know the exhaust fan has been broken and they can't cook the burgers as it would smoke out the whole restaurant, cook has asthma and is refusing, etc. We asked if at least one of us could order the challenge, then waited about 20 minutes for them to come back and tell us the cook is refusing even one challenge. We were informed that it would be fixed on Saturday and we could come back. A bit upsetting as we phoned in to check earlier in the day, but understandable. Things happen and miscommunication seemed to be an issue. We were offered a pitcher of beer and we went on with the night and ordered food.
A week later, we called the day before we planned to come. Once again to verify that we could order the challenge the next day and that the exhaust fan had gotten fixed. Again told yes no issue, upon arrival we were greeted by the same server. Ordered our drinks 2 sodas a water and a coffee. Received our drinks minus the coffee. A short while later, then the server informs us the fan was not fixed and it's the same cook with asthma and they cannot do the challenge for us. At first I thought this was a joke, you'd think if this had happened once already that they'd actually check with the kitchen or owner that the fan was indeed repaired. We were offered our drinks "on the house". We feel the least they could have offered at this point would have been a free meal. We were misinformed 2 seperate times, for all they know we could have drove 2+ hours to come do this challenge. Very upsetting, I don't think we were asking much, and were being courteous enough to call on both occasions.
Before leaving we asked the server to take one of our numbers to let us know when we could actually come and do the challenge. At this point we aren't expecting communication as the staff here seem to lack these skills. The manager made no attempt to speak with us, apologize, or offer any comps on...
Read moreWe went for dinner for my daughter’s 10th birthday. Waited for over 15 min to order a drink. We started on the rooftop patio but then a thunderstorm came in so we asked to be moved downstairs which wasn’t an issue.
When we got downstairs we waited for another 10 min (after we ordered food and had mine and my kids drinks) to be seated even though the waitress told us she would meet us at the bottom of the stairs. Note: it was not busy downstairs at all!
Our food took quite sometime to come. Then when it did we did not have any utensils. I had to get up and find our waiter and ask for utensils. She said she would be right over with them, she never showed. Asked the greeter eventually and she got us some. We ate and our waitress showed back up. No mention of forgetting the utensils. We asked for three glasses of water she said no problem and again they never showed up. We waited another 20 minutes for her to come back to just ask for our bill and she never showed, again we had to ask the greeter who grabbed our bill and we paid her.
Honestly, probably the worst service experience I’ve had in a long time.
New review, attended for my next daughters birthday (her request unfortunately) I wrote a review for this restaurant exactly one month ago for my other daughter’s birthday, and unfortunately, I find myself writing almost the same review after another identical experience. For context, the manager responded to my previous Google review, claiming they were busy that day. I can assure you, that was not the case.
We were seated with the same server as last time, and it’s clear she could benefit from additional training. The reliance on iPads seems to slow down the entire process—perhaps it’s time to rethink their use. Despite having a reservation at 5pm, we didn’t receive our food until after 6pm. With six children in our group and the restaurant being quite warm, it was especially frustrating that it took 30 minutes just to get our drinks.
When our meals finally arrived, the food was just average. The buffalo chicken wrap, in particular, was disappointing—it had no sauce at all, making it feel like I was just eating lettuce and a tortilla.
After we finished eating, the waitress asked the kids if they wanted the dessert included with their meal. Incredibly, it took another 25 minutes for the desserts to arrive. The kids understandably grew restless and started playing, but even that didn’t seem to prompt any urgency from the staff.
I won’t be returning to this restaurant. Not only did they fail to take responsibility after our first visit, but the overall experience simply isn’t worth it. I’ll be choosing another place for future occasions—one where the service is better, which truly isn’t...

I just moved here to Oshawa from Toronto. I have been scared to try food here as the first time but...
NOW I HAVE FOUND THE PLACE! 😃
I got delivery from The Canadian Brewhouse (since at my new house we don't have any food right now) and the food was AMAZING. The salad was fresh crisp and clean, the gravy was flavourful and thick, the menu reminds me of an Old English Pub... from England, Ireland or Scotland...with that kind of feel.
Everything tasted wonderful and was packaged so nicely. I felt like my money was well spent, for once.
Salad - the carrots, cucumber, tomatoes - everything was sliced in the old English pub style, like in the 80's/90's. Everything tasted brimmingly fresh and not soggy. This is THE PLACE to get a good salad, even to-go. Which takeout salads nowadays are hard to come by!
Whatever they are doing, and the standards and rules they have - keep on going! You guys are awesome!
I feel at home having this true Old English style pub food of such quality. I will be returning and to dine in as well.
Thank you for making me feel at home.
Side note: Where I lived in Toronto (North York) there was nothing like this, so tasting this high quality British Pub inspired menu was a breath of fresh air!
"The Canadian Brewhouse" really does live up to its name of retaining the remnants of Anglo-Saxon culture in Canada and the pre-dominance of how it used to be in the 80's and 90's of Anglo-Saxon pub food, warm gravy to outlast the winter, well chopped and arranged salads for nutrients.
This was extremely high quality. I am so happy my family member chose to order from here.
I also am happy to see true Canadians like myself serving real Canadian (European-inspired) food and that community is really felt here.
Please keep on going with what you are doing because the quality is amazing, and I am an extremely picky eater and finicky with quality... yet this takeout food was EXCEPTIONAL.
And if only you guys could go to North York, Toronto and show them how it's done.
A True Restaurant 👌
Thank...
