Gyro Beach Cafe — Restaurant in Osoyoos

We had a very upsetting experience at Gyro Café in Osoyoos. A staff member was extremely rude and confrontational for no clear reason, and at one point came alarmingly close to physically pushing my wife. We felt uncomfortable.

This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in any customer-facing environment. We were shocked by how we were treated and would not recommend this place to others based on our experience.

Response to your message below: We stand by our original review and want to clarify a few things. We understand it was a busy long weekend and didn’t expect perfection, but respectful treatment is a basic expectation no matter the circumstance.

The owner’s claim that we were refused service due to behavior is simply not true — and the fact that he followed us to the parking lot and began shouting and swearing in front of children was deeply inappropriate and unprovoked. He had the audacity to say I followed you becoz you gave us a bad review. It was upsetting enough that we seriously considered reporting the incident to the police

My Opinion: Now for the reasons for the three stars. During the morning the beaches are fairly empty and fills up fairly quickly with families. Towards the afternoon and late afternoon the beach quickly fills up with seasonal workers and transient folks. The problem is not with the people themselves but the consideration they have for families and vacationing visitors. My experience was, for three days straight, they smoke marijuana and cigarettes beside families and children. They constantly complained about how grumpy others were and did not take their behavior into consideration. Would I go back? Not...
