Breakfast is no longer offered or available, the front desk lady that we've had to deal with, over the phone before our arrival, at check in, with questions and requests was rude, uninformative, and a liar, her name was "Niesja". Our room had broken furniture and ripped bedding, it was also dirty in some areas. The pet fees have gone up, there is also a pet waiver that has to be signed now upon arrival. We had requested at check in that our room not be entered by housekeeping as we have a dog and are only staying two days. The front desk lady Niesja said she will put in my file for house keeping not to enter, when we left our room for the day, just to be sure we even put the "no cleaning needed" sign onto our door, yet upon our return, we found that our room had been entered anyways. Luckily we had taken our dog with us, as if we had left him he might have ran away or injured the stranger entering our space. When I asked front desk upon checkout what it said in my file, I was informed that no notes were left for us... the house keeper that didn't enter our room, even thought it was stated on our door not to, didn't even clean anything, the beds were half made, and towels restocked, garbage taken out, but no sheets changed, and not even a counter top wiped down. I have photos of the broken furniture and bedding, and I will include those photos in my review.
We've stayed at this location many times over the last 5 years, always had a wonderful time. However, we will no longer be returning.... this was a terrible experience for us, and we are saddened that now we will have to find a new vacation hotel for our annual winter trips. I asked Niesja why so much has changed, the atmosphere seemed tense and uninviting, when before we always had wonderful time and staff were super accommodating, welcoming, and friendly..... has there been ownership change? Neisja didn't offer any explanations or apologies, and I, someone who has 15 years customer service experience, I was disappointed that all I got in return of answers was a stink eye and a rude tone of voice....
P.s. I would like to file a formal complaint against the employee Niesja for her terrible attitude, her false "promises", and misinformation.
Broken and dirty issues in room, AC unit controls were smached and broken, doors and baseboards were dirty, blanket had holes in it, alarm clock not plugged in or set, light on wall by bedroom broken and crooked, stove elements...
Read moreI will start with the positive. Excellent location. Right on the beach, made it very convenient especially with 2 kids. We literally take the elevator down and the beach is right there. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and rattlesnake canyon is less than 5 min drive. Hotel also offers free paddle boards/kayaks rentals for guests. We paid for an ocean view 2-bedroom suite and it did not live up to par. First, false advertisement on the website stating that this is an air-conditioned suite but there no ac in one of the bedrooms. Second, both doors to the bedrooms do not shut. The doors barely fits into the frames so you have to push hard to shut and pull hard to open, both create a very loud noise. With a toddler in each room we had to keep the doors ajar. When both issues were brought to front desk’s attention, they said they are aware…Third, as seen in the picture below, when my husband did a bed check there were dead bugs on the mattress underneath the bedspread. There were dead bugs everywhere. I am aware that the hotel is near the beach but when we looked inside the light fixture in the living room, there were hundreds of dead bugs in it (should have taken a picture). That was just day 1. Day 2, the water came out of the tap was yellow, see picture below. I am 8 months pregnant, the kids and I were drinking this. We live in BC, I thought tap water was safe. Again, when this was brought to the front desk’s attention, they said they will send someone up to take a look. I’m no expert but water flows through the pipes in the whole hotel and was not room specific. The hotel did offer a compensation of $30 off that night… To top it all off, on our third and final night, the fire alarm went off at 12:45AM, 12:53Am and again at 01:03Am. No there was no fire, we were just very lucky to have 2/3 fire alarms out of battery. We have a 2 and a 3 year old, imagine how much fun we had putting them back to sleep. The front desk receptionist came and said that she does not think that the batteries were out. Luckily it only went off 3x. But the next morning, surprise, surprise, someone came and changed all the batteries. Just so we are clear, no manager was ever “available” during our 4 days at that hotel. I know this was a long post but I had to get it off my chest. I am aware that there are many 5/5 reviews. I just want the next person who books this hotel has all the information. The good...

Our stay was not the greatest and we won't return. Here's why:
Upon arriving we had a heck of a time finding a parking spot, the lot was packed and we were told to consider parking on the road if we couldn't secure a spot for $300 per night hmmm well ok- onto the rooms 🤔🤔
We reserved 2 rooms one for my parents and one for myself and my kids, upon arrival my first impression of the room was it was dated, a bit dungeoy, not particularly clean and the room wasn't very well stocked with (soap etc). Even that ok fine-
It took a turn for us when we noticed how filthy the box spring sheet was, there was also gum stuck to the base of the bed. I went to the front office to request an new box spring sheet and I was told they were too hard to change- they gave me a regular sheet and sent me on my way.
After the first night, I was making my daughter's bed, when pulling the sheets off there was a big yellow stain on the bed, my daughter told me she thought she smelled cat pee through the night- we ended up stripping all of the bed sheets- and I mentioned that to the front office, that day someone came and changed the sheets. After this I noticed several rooms down from us had pets in them, even cats so I presume we were given a pet friendly room despite having no pets ans booking months in advance.
After the cat pee incident we went to leave for the day to find my fathers car had been hit and run. We requested the video footage from Mark the maintenance guy however after 2 more days of being there just never heard back, thankfully the rcmp and ICBC have assured us they will follow up with the hotel.
It overall seemed like any and all corners were cut in the operation of this hotel, it was mega disappointing since this is our summer break, even the hot tub was luke warm. Despite all of the issues we endured we also didn't receive any incentive what so ever to return or even provide a good referral, we got all of this for $1000.00 for 3 nights stay.
The only thing this place had going for it was a great beach front- however about 4 other resorts share the same beach I would highly recommend the holiday Inn next door we admired it from afar.
Sorry Coast Inn- very...
