I should have guessed a motel called Boundary would be located away from most of Osoyoos. On its surface, it’s an adorable location, with frills and colors like you were visiting gramma’s place. The photos on the booking page offer the impression patrons sit in front of their rooms overlooking a view. There is no such thing, just trees and pavement. Bumpers is located nowhere near water.
In any other city, I probably wouldn’t appreciate Bumpers. It’s small, cramped, with an understocked and borderline dilapidated bathroom. The room is extremely tight. The bed wasn’t all that comfortable either, but that’s to be expected in a motel. In the end, strip all the colors, and what you have is a mediocre location barely within walking distance to the rest of town. Thankfully, this is Osoyoos, and everything is already close by. However, I still praise Bumpers, one for its value—it’s very cheap for the region—and two, it has a full sized refrigerator.
You’re probably thinking by this point, how in pluperfect hell could a full-size fridge in a motel in Osoyoos be worthy of praise. And why would a single-bed, single-room command a full-sized fridge? Because this is wine country, that’s why. It took us a while to figure it out; perhaps they got them on a deal from Home Depot or something. We stayed at more expensive places with little more than a bar fridge. Osoyoos and Oliver are anchor locations for anyone planning a tour through wine country.
Between these two towns are twenty kilometers over thirty wineries, easily occupying the majority of one’s day. It would also be assumed that you would acquire bottles at some of these aforementioned wineries. Imagine doing this for several days—where would you store your purchases?
Bingo.
Couple that with a parking spot two feet from the door, and Bumpers became a godsend. So why not praise it? I mean it’s not like we were on honeymoon—we barely spent a second past sleep there. We were on a wine tour, and if on one again, we would repeat our visit at...
Read moreWe were looking for a room last minute as we drove through the mountains on the way back to Alberta from Vancouver. For whatever reason almost every room in town as booked as well as the neighboring areas. We found this place on Google and gave them a call. They had one room left and offered to save it for us until we got there with no other info than our names. We were about 30 minutes away. We got there and thankfully they took cash, as our credit cards were about melted at this point. The motel had a nice front lawn with several picnic tables and firepits/bbqs to cook on. It wasn't huge but big enough and ran the length of the property. The units all had chairs outside the entrance that were awesome to sit and watch the sunset in. There was a kitchenette that included stove fridge and utensils. We didn't use none of it but the option was nice. Bathroom looked recently renovated and well kept with a window facing the back lawn. Main room included a tv with a small couch and a ceiling fan. A couple windows faced the front and allowed nice air flow. Bedroom had an air conditioner a small closet and nighstands with some lamps. Nothing crazy big but very cozy and comfortable. Area was quiet and we didn't hear any late night parties. We only stayed one nigh but as far as motels go, very decent....
Read moreFirst things first.||We booked this motel specifically because the website states the motel is one minute from downtown which is not true. It is maybe one minute from a gas station and a convenience store but is nowhere as close to being downtown as it portrays itself to be.||Secondly it advertises itself as being 2 minutes from the border and this again is not true.||We wanted a motel that was conveniently located and this place is not. The website's statements are simply not true and this was misleading advertising.||Not a good start.||||The place looks okay from the outside however when we walked into our room we were disappointed and disgusted at how run down it is. First of all the bed was just one double size bed, way too small for two people and was sagging in the middle. A very uncomfortable nights sleep.||The window coverings were tattered and the furniture was beat up and shabby. The carpet didn't look very clean and we were afraid to walk barefoot in the room. It looks like there has been no updating done in the last twenty years. ||||If this was a budget motel that would explain its run down condition however the price is way too high for what you get.||I couldn't wait to leave this place in the morning.||Do yourself a favor and stay...
