I’ve never felt so disrespected and mistreated in my life as I did during my visit here. Our experience with the manager, “Sue” (not sure if that’s her actual name or if she even is a manager since she refused to give us her name, there for another worker gave us that name), was absolutely appalling and downright unacceptable. I am writing this review not only to share my experience but also to highlight behavior that should have no place in any establishment.
When we first arrived, our server was clearly overwhelmed with four other tables so “Sue” informed us that she would take over. This was fine, but things quickly went downhill from there. From the moment “Sue” took over, she was nothing but rude and condescending. It seemed as though she had already decided we were a nuisance before even taking our order.
Not only was our oder messed up twice, but she also had the audacity to tell us that we would be charged for their mistake. When we politely asked to speak with another manager, she became even more hostile. Fortunately, the second manager had the decency to recognize that it was their error and assured us we wouldn’t be charged.
However, the nightmare didn’t end there. “Sue” came back to finalize our check with an even worse attitude than before. When we calmly asked her why she was being so mean, her response left us speechless. She told us that we “get what we deserve”. We declined her service and asked someone else to help us to that she responded that our first server had “ran away” from us because we were “bad people.” Another manager then took over I asked for her name to which he was stuttering (how do you not know the managers name lol) before answering “Sue” which I believe isn’t even her real name and I asked for an owner’s phone number that doesn’t even pick up.
No customer should ever be treated the way we were. “Sue”’s behavior was not just unprofessional, it was downright disgusting. It is shocking and unacceptable for any business to have someone like “Sue” representing them, especially in a managerial position. I urge the owners to seriously reconsider her employment, as her actions are damaging to both the reputation of the restaurant and the well-being of its patrons.
I will not be returning to this place, and I will be advising everyone I know to stay far away from this place until they take the necessary steps to address this issue. No one should have to endure what we did.
Ps: She has blonde hair with a vintage microphone tattoo on her left arm.
If a manager doesn’t contact me I will report “Sue” for her...
Read moreSaturday July 13, 2024 - 10:00am We had had a decent enough time and we were headed on our way out. It was just myself and my 3 year old. We were pretty memorable from breakfast time because more than a few people commented on my little guy’s ninja turtle’s hat. He rocks it pretty hard. We walked through the restaurant toward the front lobby where I was what felt accosted by the hostess. She didn’t ask how our meal was or anything like that or to tell us to have a nice day. She abruptly questioned me; “did you pay your bill?!” She didn’t do this quietly either. She said it loud enough for the people waiting for tables to definitely take in. I responded in shock saying; “Yes of course!” While I’m being tugged along by kid. This girl told me and hand gestured as if I need to stand in this place; “wait one second…” while she went to confirm with our waitress. I was to stay in the lobby looking like a criminal with my child so this hostess can confirm whether I paid for breakfast. Less than a minute later she came half way back to where I was standing and gave me a thumbs up. I gave a few scoffs so other people could hear and I walked out. I have many issues with this scenario. I understand that’s a problem - people dining and running out on their bill. It’s an uncomfortable thing to approach someone about - this hostess is not trained in it at all. I would assume the computer system has some sort of link that when the waitress closes a table once the bill is paid that the table would become available for the hostess side to see that it’s open to seat another party. This hostess could have just checked there to see if I had paid the bill and that it closed instead of approaching me in that gross manner. But maybe Allo Mon Coco isn’t that sophisticated. When the hostess realized I had paid, she should have come back ALL the way over to me and verbally apologized for being ignorant. Like I said. It was decent enough. Do better people. ————— Edited after reply from restaurant*
Thank you for your reply.
I don’t plan on visiting this breakfast spot again. The first experience was bad enough to not go back. There’s no excuse for the behaviour of the hostess and it can’t be rectified. There are lots of other brunch places in Ottawa not to mention two other Allo Mon Coco’s in the capital where the whole staff is amazing. We wanted to try this new location and to love it but like most people restaurants don’t get second chances. Especially when you’re made to feel like a complete moron and thief when all you want is a relaxing morning out with...
Read moreUpdate: 5th time's a charm. Went today, and the place was packed. Managed to grab the last two seats at the bar. Food showed up in 5 minutes, and it was perfect. Hot, matched the menu description, and well presented.
Well done!!
I've been to this place 4 times since they opened because it's a convenient location. My order didn't quite match the menu description 3 out of the 4 times and the 4th time I had to argue that something was actually on their menu when the waitress insisted it wasn't. They are definitely having some opening problems. Neither the dining staff or cooks are comfortable with the menu yet. Check your meal carefully when it arrives to make sure it matches the menu description. The same menu item will be made differently from day to day. Be prepared to patiently tell the serving staff that yes, you do have this item on the menu, it should be made like this, and show it to them.
Our last meal there was a bit of a disaster but I did note that the big boss was absent and I suspect that was why.
This chain is usually very consistent and this location just needs some time to get up to speed. I'm going to take a little break from the place while they...
