Shawarma House Kanata is an amazing establishment that makes your taste buds have a party like nowhere else.
In addition to the welcoming polite and informative staff, the menu is so inclusive that it covers almost all tastes...evening you are not into ethnic foods they offer wings, poutine, garlic potatoes, fries and salads.
For the meat lovers, you are in heaven with the choices of Kababs or shawarma - chickenor beef- that is slowly cooking before your eyes. The smell is amazing and the taste is out of this world.
The protein portion of the meals are complemented with hommus and garlic and hot sauces, and fattouch and tabouli salads. The garlic potatoes taste is amazing, with or without be the protein.
Two sides of rice as options make it hard for you to decide...I had to ask for half in half!
Vegetarian side choices include Falafel, and fried eggplant and fried cauliflower.... Dipped with tahini sauce, it makes you wonder why you thought vegetarian food taste so plain...
The baklava choices are available from personal to family size, and they are sooo well done in an ethnic bakery in Montreal. They are not loaded with syrup or too sweet to enjoy... I am diabetic and I can easily have one or two pieces a day... Do not take my word for it, try it yourself!
The eat in section is so big and is comfy, with booths and tables with chairs.
This place is so classy and the service makes it feel like multiple star restaurant...
I strongly recommend you come in and try it. This place has so many precautions to protect staff and clients. One of very few places that put hand sanitizer on every table two months ago!
I talked to the owner about getting some foods for a little get together... I was surprised by that he caters for all occasions and they custom make the menu to include some yummy choices like Kibbeh, spinash pockets, and so many yummy finger foods. I was surprised how reasonable his prices were.
I strongly recommend you call and get your order prepared, and pick it up to support these amazing restaurants in this pandamic. I want you to know that delivery partners charge you at least $3.99 then they cut 30% of what you pay and give the restaurant ONLY 70% ... Support restaurants by...
Read moreWon't give a 1 because this restaurant should be a 4-5...Have been a loyal customer for a long time now, and have enjoyed the quality of a great shawarma many times here. Lately though, I have clearly noticed that they are putting less and less chicken in the sandwich, and that is extremley disappointing to me, a weekly shawarma eater since 1995. Today will be my final visit to this extremely popular eatery. On my previous visit, the gentleman "portioning" out the chicken on my large sandwich, saw the look on my face, and asked me "what?", I said "if that is all the chicken you are going to put on my sandwich, then I will gladly go elsewhere"... he added a little more chicken... today I had a feeling I would be disappointed, but decided to give them one more chance, and after patiently waiting 20mins in line, my sandwich was ready for the chicken, the same employee was putting my chicken on, and as he was pulling the tray away I was already seeing that he didnt put much chicken, and I was then shocked as he removed pieces of chicken off of my sandwich and put it back on the tray..... ARE YOU FOR REAL!!!!! He wrapped it up, placed it on the press, and when I asked him about the chicken, he said its too late now, he will give me more chicken next time.... There wont be a next time... cause the next time I have a craving for shawarma(weekly occurrence) I will save my lunch money for dinner and stop at Shawarma Palace on Carling, as not only are they the best Shawarma in the city, they will never ever, leave you asking for more meat, they pile it on and you know you got your moneys worth. Like I said, I would give Shawarma House a 1 out of 5, but to be fair the flavor is great, and they have the potential to be a solid 4 if not a 5.. Stop Skimping on the MEAT, cause those of us who know a good shawarma, will not be fooled,...
Read moreRecently, I partook in the planning of an Ottawa trip with my local Air Cadet Squadron, one which I helped organize. Knowing that many of the cadets in my squadron wanted shawarma throughout the trip, I was doing my best to find a shawarma place that we could go to for a reasonable price (we were on a budget). I had no luck until I finally found Shawarma House which, coincidentally, was very close to the Deifenbunker, the museum we visited on the last day of our trip. Giving us a discount on top of already reasonable prices, Ali, the owner, was very courteous to us. Yet, the biggest surprise occurred when he arrived with the food. Though Ali sent me pictures of the menu prior to making my order, I didn't quite realize just how much he was giving us for the price until I saw it in front of me - needless to say, we had a feast! For any hungry person that happens to be in the area of this restaurant, you most definitely won't be disappointed! And, on top of the sheer quantity of food we were given, the food also tasted amazing! I may not be a shawarma connoisseur, but the shawarma I had from Shawarma House is definitely amongst the best shawarma I've ever had!!! Last but certainly not least, the customer service was exceptional. Completely unprompted, Ali even threw in a free tray of baklava for us to enjoy! All that to say, I strongly recommend this restaurant - with amazing food, a good sense of hospitality and a convenient location only a few minutes away from the Deifenbunker, Shawarma House is a must-go for anyone in the region who has a craving...
