Aztec Tacos is hands down one of the best spots in Ottawa for authentic Mexican food! From the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was something special. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, and the aroma of fresh, homemade tortillas fills the air.

The food? Absolutely incredible. I tried a variety of tacos, including the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and Carnitas, and every single bite was bursting with flavor. The meats were tender and well-seasoned, and the toppings were fresh and balanced perfectly. Their homemade salsas add just the right amount of kick, and you can tell they put real care into crafting every dish.

Beyond the tacos, I also had their birria, and it was out of this world. The slow-cooked meat was juicy and rich, and the consommé for dipping was packed with deep, savory flavors. Pair it with their fresh-made horchata, and you have an unbeatable meal.

Service was excellent—the staff was warm, welcoming, and happy to make recommendations. You can tell they take pride in what they do, and it really shows in the quality of the food and the overall experience.

If you're craving an authentic delicious taco experience, this quaint, cozy spot is a must-visit! Upon walking in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff, making us feel right at home.

Their menu is simple, focused, and full of flavor. It is a curated selection that offer a variety of tastes and delicious options. We enjoyed two fantastic fillings: slow-cooked beef cheeks tocos with cheese and Quesabiria, birria-style cooked beef folded into a tortilla with melted cheese and served with a side of broth. The meat was tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with two delightful sauces— a sweet chili and a smoky, spicy chipotle with a nice kick. Toppings included fresh chopped onions, cilantro, and a side of roasted onions and jalapeños. In short, great food and even better people. The non-alcoholic sangria was a refreshing treat and an excellent complement.

Then there's the price - so great. The first visit had such a strong positive impact and helped shape the next few visits. Also tried a tamale for the first time and it was reminiscent of the maize millet based delicacies I've tasted from sub-Saharan African cuisine. They accommodated with hot verde sauce - this low cost street food item would probably be so out of place in Canadian winter time but, I don't care, this would feel so comforting on your belly coming out of the cold.
