I drove by and thought it sounded ok - it is hard to find good lasagna. I should never have stopped. I've had lasagna in many places in Canada and the US - truck stops, greasy spoons, places that didn't need to worry about return visits, mini-malls, and yet this was BY FAR the WORST lasagna I have ever had. I don't know how they could have made it any worse. Burning it would have been an improvement. For starters the meat sauce we chose was AWOL. Gone. Not a sign sauce had ever been in proximity with the noodles. The noodles themselves were not layered as in a proper lasagna, but jumbled, more like a bowl of fettuccine, and had a pathetically thin layer of cheese on top. Yum! Dry noodles - just what everyone wants! The bread that accompanied it wasn't garlic bread as one would expect, but a bag of pre-buttered rolls that came from the cheap end of the grocery store bread aisle. Add to that the hours they post on the web, and on their takeout menu are not correct as the person posing as a "cook" apparently likes to leave as soon as the open sign is off and likes to do the cleanup before then - he grumbled when we rolled in just before 9:30. We had an additional side order of garlic bread while waiting for our takeout, as the family size lasagna is only available for takeout and not eat in, and it had no garlic, just toasted with some cheese melted on top. On the up side, it wasn't burnt, which was probably an accomplishment.
For a place whose name suggests that this is their specialty, I can't imagine how bad the stuff that isn't "their specialty" must be. Dignifying it as a restaurant is an insult to both restaurants, and cooks everywhere. As for the positive reviews here and elsewhere, I must assume the owners and their friends and relatives must have been entering fake reviews as I cannot see how a place could do this badly, and actually succeed at anything else. If I could give it 0...
Read moreFound this place about a year ago moving back to Ottawa and it is my absolute favourite go to spot. I worked in kitchen’s with similar menus all of my life and I’m a bit of a food snob because of it… I was really missing the food at some of the places I’ve worked in and House of Lasagna does the best Italian food in all of Ottawa out of everywhere I’ve found and makes me miss home less. Whoever takes the phones is always so incredibly friendly, their deliveries always arrive sooner than expected or right on time and the food- don’t get me started. Best meatballs I think I’ve ever had. Their sauce is to die for. Has just a little bit of spice to it but just the perfect amount to give it that extra something. The subs are absolutely amazing and so filling. 10/10 for everything on the menu I’ve tried.
Also their phone number is probably the easiest thing in the world for me to remember because I was born in Ottawa (613) my birthday is 7/28 and I was born in ‘97 (funny coincidence) and I honestly love it
Keep up the amazing work House of Lasagna!

Read moreFirst things first, the waitress was so sweet and kind. The service was fantastic and incredibly fast. HOWEVER, the food…. Was absolutely horrible. Everything they make is frozen and microwaved.(Hence the incredibly fast service!) It is called The House Of Lasagna, so I figured I would order a lasagna. It was easily the worst lasagna I have ever had in my entire life. It’s actually disrespectful to Italian culture to even call it a lasagna. It was layers of NOODLES with literally nothing in between. The sauce was pretty well none existent, with CANNED mushrooms on top. I am not a picky eater. I will always finish my food, but I took 3 bites of this and had to ask for a box. I got a box so I could politely throw it in the trash when I walked out, instead of being a karen and complaining inside. If you are thinking of coming here, I recommend that you literally go...
