I decided to give this place three tries, but now I won't be going back
I ordered a club sandwich last week and it was great. My only criticism was that the chicken on the sandwich was cold while the rest of the sandwich was hot. What kind of club sandwich is that.... And when I went to pick up my order, the guy behind the counter turned his back to me and completely ignored me while he took a phone order and I waited around to pay.
I decided to give this place another shot, and asked specifically the next time that they warm up the chicken on the sandwich. The guy on the phone was very understanding and HoP was very accomodating. That time, the sandwich was totally awesome. The second item I ordered (chicken tacos) were okay with tasty seasonings, but was missing the condiments it was supposed to include.
And since my second club was so good, I decided to give them my business yet again and called and asked for a hot chicken club sandwich. The woman on the phone seemed very polite and understanding of my request. I had no problems picking up my order, but the problems came when I went to eat the sandwich. My request to heat the chicken had obviously been too much for House of Pizza to handle, because what they gave me was incredibly dry chicken inappropriate to serve to a dog! I was totally shocked at the poor dried out quality of my third sandwich from them. Not only was the chicken dry, but the bacon was very undercooked! It wasn't crispy, just plain SOGGY and fatty and gross! Definitely not something you'd want to put in your mouth. I brought my order back up to House of Pizza and promptly received a refund, but then the manager came over and got very defensive with me, telling me that it was because of my request to heat up the chicken and that was not how they normally did things. He also (without even looking at my sandwich) told me that the bacon was perfectly cooked. What happened to trying to please the customer? Even with my first sandwich with cold chicken, I still found the sandwich to be pretty tasty.....but this was was just inedible overcooked chicken undercooked bacon GARBAGE, and the manager's defensiveness totally put me off returning to House of Pizza. When I asked him if he'd like another shot at making the club right, he told me he was too busy.
For $13, I expect my order to be cooked well! And an extra (seemingly minor) request for hot chicken was just too much for them. I'll try some place else.....damn, I thought I had found a good place to get a...
Read moreEvery city has their own style of pizza. Big chains like Pizza Hut and Dominos create a generic pie that has mass appeal. Pizza Pizza is stereotypically Toronto. House of Pizza makes a pie that is what I consider to be an Ottawa pizza. Places like Gabrielles have created built on this by adding excessive amounts of cheese, so I supposed I should classify House of Pizza as classic Ottawa Pizza. Thicker crust, slightly more glutinous dough, and a focus on green olives. So good.
House of Pizza isn't much to look at, but they make a quality pie. Solid crust, great sauce with even coverage, fresh toppings, and they don't skimp on the cheese. They are a family owned and operated business. They make supporting local much easier by cooking really good quality pizzas. Subs are great too. Good price, family run, and ready at the time they...
Read moreOrdered from here for the first time a little over a week ago, and definitely was not disappointed. Even though it was late & they were closing soon the workers met me with a smile and still took their time making my food perfect, although their service does not take long at all. I told them I would deff come back & I did tonight, & yet again I'm extremely happy with my purchases. Their wide variety in the menu is really great and there's bound to be something for everyone. Their food is AMAZING homemade goodness, and they're not cheap with their servings either! I for one am extremely satisfied with all aspects of this place. Also the guy who cooks the food & who I assume is the owner is so kind and generous, something I really appreciate! :) If I could give this place more...
