Prince Ali Bakery — Restaurant in Ottawa

Commenting a year later because Prince Ali DEF deserves the exposure and I always end up saying that prince Ali does it better.

Moved to area last year and had the op to uber their pies and def brought me back some amazing foodie memories from Toronto. Fastforward a year later, having sampled a couple bakeries around the city, and though I won't argue that each bakery has their strengths.....

But Prince Ali ALWAYS brings me back. Their stuffing and Zaatar seasoning is SO GOOD. Absolutely perfect. And again, their Kishik is BOMB. Tried a couple places and their Kishik mix just doesn't beat Ali's. Although I am curious if Ali has Soujuk but whatevs. Their Akawi, zaatar, meat and cheese, and kishik are always a staple for me I order 4 of each every time. One stuffing I do wish they had is mouhammara. CRAVING that so much.

Highly recommend if you are craving some well made manaeesh....

Sign says open at 8 weekdays. It was open at 7:50 am . So I asked and he said he opens at 7. However the day before I was there at 7 am and It was closed. I asked for meat pie. Noting was in the oven. He said 5 min. They were prepared waiting on shelved. He put 3 slabs of spinach pies in the oven and it was 10 minutes later. He had gloves on and used the big dirty black oven mitts with his gloves on. Even wiped the counter with the gloves on. Then was taking orders and using his gloves! The old man would be so disappointed in how he is doing things. I asked if he could wash his hands...and change his gloves. He proceeded to rinse his gloves. Really ?! The old man and sons would have washed their hand 10 times by now ! I am not happy at all. I had to leave. I know he was trained, but I wish their were cameras so the lovely old man can...

Very disappointed as they’re not honest when i called them on the phone i told them that we were in a rush and they said that the place was not full and that our order will be ready in 2 minutes and told us not to be late so it doesn’t get cold but when we arrived they told us to wait in line which would take around 20 minutes and the place was completely packed with the line leading outside so we just canceled our order. We would’ve liked it if they told us through the phone that there was a long line and they were busy not that they were completely available and that we could pick up our order...
