Samar Kabab House — Restaurant in Ottawa

Friday May 31 I made a resevation for 9 persons for Saturday, and the person I called confirmed it, and told me to come 20minutes before because it's usauly full !!!, around 8:20 pm which I did (8:15 pm). The waitress who was there (very disrespectfull and not smiling at all) stated that there was no reservation with my name, even though I saw two sets a of tables as reserved. she then told me to sit for a moment in a table beside toilettes and kitchen,very low light and not prepared to receive anyone, ... 15 mn remainnig for us to break the fast no news from her. she then came back and said you didn't reserve, when I told her I can proove it cause my call was recorded & showed her the phone number, she said I don't know, started to talk loudly and changed the subject, she told me the owner will come to see you, he didn't. I saw her looking for a place for a 6 family memebrs and she ended up by spliting one of the reserved table to make them sit for ( she told me I can't sit there, it's reserved). We were with 4 littles kids who were hungry, it was 9:00pm when they came with plastics goblets and their (we're sorry we're sorry) we don't have glasses, we were 15 mn after Azan and they didn't even give us the dattes or water to break the fast. I was upset and lost my selfconrtrol & started yieling (that was the minimum) The owner didn't show up, prefering hiding in the kitchen watching his waitresses arguig with me, and you know what, the disrespectfull and unprofessionnal waitress told me just go and never come back, we were forced to go to the nearest restaurent to eat someting we couldn't go back home, 30 mn driving, with nothing left to eat at home especailly with my guests. I went there based on reviews but never trust the reviews, they will mislead you. VERY UNPROFESSIONNAL ESPECIALY ONE WAITRESS AND THE OWNER AS HE PREFERD TO NOT ACT TO RESOLVE THEIR MISTAKE. NEVER TRUST THEM ON RESERVATION AND MAKE A PLAN B WHEN GOING THERE...

Drove up to Ottawa for the day from Toronto and decided to have a steak at this place.

There needs to be a zero stars option. My experience at this place was horrible yesterday. When we lived in Ottawa, we usually go for dinner at this place for their steaks which by the way costs 30$ each. My steak was completely inedible as it was burned and tasted very bitter When I asked for it to be replaced, the response was that there are no more steaks left (the restaurant was completely empty, we were the only patrons) I was asked to choose another dish - the chaplee kabob dinner - which to me tasted really bad as well. I ended up not eating this as well When paying for the meal I asked if I will get a discount on the chaplee Kebob dinner. The chef / owner came out out of the kitchen and was very rude and arrogant refusing to take ownership of the fact that the steak was burned and inedible. We argued regarding the whole experience. I told him that I’m the customer and they’re supposed to replace the steak or at least give a discount on the replacement meal (I’m sure other establishments would have given the entire meal for free!) The chef said we don’t give out free food and told me to get out. My son had to step in and told me to wait outside while he paid the bill. The waitress was nice and was apologizing to me and my daughter the entire time.

Bottom line - this owner thinks that we are living in a third world country and treats his customers as such. No respect, no idea how to cook a steak, no idea how to respond to customers. Completely...

I usually never write review but thought this was important! I've been to this restaurant a couple of time in the past and the food is amazing however the customer service this time was horrible. We waited close to an hour before our order was taken only to be asked 10 minutes later if were sure our order was made as it wasn't showing in the system. The staff seemed to be lacking knowledge when it comes to customer service or even the menu. More TRAINED staff is needed on the floor as the servers looked very confused as they were coming in and out of the kitchen with plates not knowing where to go.

The cashier got sent home because she wasn't aware of certain items on the menu when serving a customer (which led them to leave) and when she asked for help she got ignored. This is absolutely ridiculous. She should have been given the proper training not get sent home. Not to mention, when customers were complaining at the cash, one of the servers would complain to customers about the cashier that got sent home. That is very unprofessional and gives the wrong image of the type of business you run. Its unfortunate because the food is amazing. But after this incident I won't...
