Pong's Poutine — Restaurant in Ottawa

I’ve been a customer since about 2017 or longer. Pong has personally stayed open just to serve me and my boyfriend on multiple occasions when we have unknowingly showed up at his posted closing time. I can’t speak more highly of the service he and his staff provide, they are honest, friendly, hardworking, compassionate and professional to say the least. Following on Facebook I came across of an apology from Pong following an misunderstanding with a customer yesterday, where most would stay quite, double down and not apologize when in the wrong, Pong did the opposite, admitting he was wrong and publicly apologizing and acknowledging what happened. This just speaks to his personality. He’s not just another owner out looking to take your money for low quality food or service, he truly does love what he does and care for his customers and staff. That being said I have added a screenshot of his apology to my review so others have a chance to get to know what pong is all about… honesty, professionalism and integrity!

I don't usually hand out five star reviews for chip trucks, there is usually something I don't like. Maybe this place could be located closer to my house? That's unreasonable though. Back to the review, I feel like this place takes their business seriously, and you can taste it. Please review the included phots as you can see they use a quality bun for their burgers, real cheese curds that perfectly half melted. They use thinly cut fries which I enjoy, that's all personally preference though. the gravy is nice and flavourful without being intrusive. I believe a poutine should be equal parts fries/gravy/cheese all working together and that's what you will find here at Pong's. Back to the bacon cheese burger, again with the quality ingredients. Nice bacon mixed with cheese and other toppings. The patty was definitely home made, some sort of onion and other flavours were noticed, nicely done. To top all this off you can get the bacon cheeseburger combo with a drink for $10 plus tax. I really like that the combo comes in its own box, like a little gift to yourself. Also the staff was really nice and friendly. That's all for now. Happy poutineing everyone.

Thoroughly surprised by the quality and tastiness of the classic poutine (medium). Living near Ottawa, I've visited many places that serve poutine in Quebec and Ontario, and Pong's' Poutine is definitely in my top three establishments. Their gravy is delicious, the curds melt just right, they heap the fries into your dish, and their service is impeccable.

My only qualm is that their establishment isn't in the nicest area. While the owners have done a great job keeping things clean and tidy, the area around the food truck is a bit of a mess. However, that's related to the other businesses around them, and not the employees.

All told -- one of the best poutines I've had on the Ontario side. Do not hesitate to give these guys a shot if you're craving a classic...
