I visited Safia Restaurant in Ottawa yesterday for a taste of Somali cuisine and had a wonderful experience. The restaurant offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a cozy decor that adds to the charm of the dining experience.
The service was attentive and friendly. The staff was knowledgeable about the Somali menu and provided helpful recommendations. The food arrived promptly, and the service was consistently pleasant throughout the meal.
I ordered the [specific dishes you had, e.g., Beef Samosas and the Chicken Stew], and both dishes were delicious. The Beef Samosas were flavorful with a perfect blend of spices, and the Chicken Stew was hearty and satisfying, accompanied by [mention any sides or accompaniments, e.g., injera or rice].
The menu featured a good variety of Somali dishes, and the meal was quite affordable, with the total cost coming to around 20 CAD. The pricing was very reasonable given the quality and portion sizes.
Overall, Safia Restaurant provided an excellent dining experience with authentic Somali food and great service. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore Somali cuisine and will definitely be returning...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhat a gem! We needed food for 6 (including 3 guests) and I had heard a review of Safia on cbc āeat the stripā. I thought letās give it a try. I picked up food to take home. We had the delicious chicken saqaar. The rice was to die for, chicken chunks were succulent and deliciously spiced and the lamb Zapatista dish (with lentils and spinach) was heavenly. As others noted: the lamb was so tender that it slid off the bones and melted in your mouth. Servings were generous. We ate A LOT and still had leftovers. None of us had ever had Somali food before. Everyone was delighted. The service was warm and friendly. The owner and his son are just wonderful good people and excellent chefs. Just meeting them is worth a visit :-). Thank you Safia from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had anjeero for the first time here and it was sooooo good. It's a crepe made of fermented dough, similar to the Ethiopian injera, but less sour and not made of teff. I got the anjeero with the liver breakfast plate which also comes with Somali milk tea. The liver is very good, but a bit too oily for my tastes. If they used less oil, I would be in love with the dish. The milk tea was creamy and gingery. I really enjoyed it. The beef and chicken suquaar plate is also delicious! Full of flavour. The only thing that is boring is the salad. Just iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. But the vegetables were fresh. Don't come here for the salad, lol. Beef and chicken suquaar plate, and liver and anjeero for...
