Met up with some friends for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Thought we would try out the Village Cafe in Stittsville because we had heard good things. The food was okay. Nothing special about breakfast. But the service provided by the owner Jordan was totally unacceptable and the worst I've ever been treated at any restaurant. She took the order and brought the food. My friend didn't get her whole order and Jordan never came back to the table to ask us how the food was or to refill our drinks. We had to go up to the bar to ask for more coffee. When the meals were finished we asked for more coffee and was told by Jordan that we could have one refill but then we had to leave and we couldn't stay all day cos she had people waiting for tables. Then she went to the bar staff and must've gossiped about us cos everyone of the employees turned to stare at us. A male employee (sorry ..didn't get his name) was very nice and we explained to him what had just happened and he tried to apologize on her behalf but it was too late. The damage has been done. Jordan should not be waiting on tables. she does not have the customer service skills required to deal with customers. She is rude, disrespectful and neglectful. I would not recommend anyone go to the Village Cafe unless you want terrible service from a rude owner. There are so many better places to eat where they actually appreciate...
Read moreWe tried it for breakfast for the first time today. The young man who greeted us was polite and welcoming and took good care of us. $7 mimosas were great. The food for most of us was good, except for the fact that the server touched our toast with her hands (picked it up in the basket and moved it around for some unknown reason), but one person in our party found some packaging likely from the peameal bacon in his breakfast. He brought it to the attention of the server and she picked up his fork, took away the packaging, and put it in her hand. No apology. He no longer wanted the meal so asked it to be taken away. The manager came by and picked up the untouched side of pancakes that came with the meal, told him that she had to take them too because she was comping the meal, or if he wanted to keep the pancakes, she would just comp half. Still no apology and no offer to remake something. We were really hopeful about this new local place, but the customer service was dismal. I worked in a busy family restaurant for close to a decade and this is not how we would have handled the situation. They acted annoyed at us when it was not our mistake at all and we were polite and factual, not rude. I wish them well. It’s a new business, with new staff and it’s busy, so we all understand that sometimes mistakes are made, but some of the basic hygiene issues and poor manners are enough to...

I recently visited The Village Café for breakfast on a busy Saturday morning, and I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. Despite the bustling atmosphere, my wife and I managed to secure seats at the bar, which she particularly enjoyed, although the seats were a bit high. The service was exceptional, as we were seated at the bar, allowing for easy beverage refills and attentive check-ins from the staff regarding our food.
The food itself was excellent and arrived promptly, thanks to the efficient service. However, some of the items were not as hot as we would have preferred, particularly the potatoes and eggs. On the bright side, the bread was a standout – big, fluffy, and thoroughly enjoyable. In fact, we couldn't even finish all of it! We both opted for the rye bread and were thoroughly impressed by its quality.
Despite the minor issue with the temperature of some items, I would rate our experience at The Village Café a 4.5. The homely atmosphere and top-notch service more than made up for it. It's easy to see why this place is always bustling – it's a great spot for a satisfying breakfast without any hassle. I highly recommend it to anyone in need of a good...
