Yu Sushi N Poke Kanata — Restaurant in Ottawa

I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken poke bowl, it was incredibly tender and I was initially hesitant to try it because my experience with chicken poke bowls from other places has often left me disappointed. Typically, the chicken is dry and chewy as if it had been sitting out for hours but not here. The beef poke bowl was equally impressive and again, tender and flavorful. I’m not usually a fan of kimchi and have tried it at several restaurants but this one changed my mind. It was well seasoned and had a mild flavor without the overpowering taste that I usually dislike.

The portions were generous and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of rice, vegetables and meat. I’ve had a lot of takoyaki in the past but this one truly stood out. The sauce was incredibly well balanced and seasoned, enhancing the overall flavor.

The tempura was cooked to perfection, though I felt that the mayo sauce didn’t quite pair well with it. In my opinion, the traditional Tentsuyu sauce would have complemented the tempura better but that’s just a personal preference.

The nigiri sushi was fresh and well prepared, rounding out an already delightful meal.

Lastly, by the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the owner with a big smile. The welcoming atmosphere, along with the excellent food, made this experience memorable. I highly recommend giving this place a try, you guys...

Just finished our amazing dinner from gogiya sushi & poke at it was incredible. Our second time here and it's only getting better everytime we dine or take out. We had the super poke bowl, crispy chicken sushi burrito and the GoGiya chicken. The poke bowl was fresh and flavorsome from the fresh tuna,salmon,shrimp & veges & fruit along with the nice size serving of rice. The chicken was awesome and really cool that it's boneless and bite size. My husband enjoyed the burrito immensely & he isn't usually a fan of nori wrapt sushi, but he loved it. The service on pick up was lovely as always. Very friendly kind and greeted with a big smile both entering and leaving. We were lucky enough to try the vege gyoza as we spent a certain amount and the crispness and filling inside were splendid.

We have moved here from NZ and this is by far the best place I've eaten from so far and we've tried alot of places. Would highly recommend this place to anyone and can't wait to...

Our family has eaten here multiple times since discovering this little gem 6 months ago. We’ve both eaten in and taken out (a few small tables). It’s in a little strip mall and could easily be missed. I found it based on other Google reviews when looking for sushi in the west end and was impressed by their high praises. The food is prepared fresh by a couple that run it like a well oiled machine. You will not be disappointed. Best sushi I’ve had in Ottawa and extremely reasonable prices.
