This place is not safe for anyone with allergies or other serious dietary restrictions. I have Celiac disease and ordered today, being careful to choose items marked 'gluten-free' on their menu. I put a note in the order about this being for someone with Celiac disease and they phoned me back to tell me that one of the items I'd ordered (crispy beef) was in fact not gluten-free. I was confused because it was clearly marked as such but they offered a different dish so I accepted, believing that they had my best interests at heart and were offering me what they thought to be a safe alternative. When I arrived to pick up my order I showed them how both their paper and online menus were incorrect and that they should really update them. At this point they decided to tell me that the item they'd offered as a substitution for me also contains gluten. Baffled, I clarified that this is a serious health issue and that they shouldn't be offering me food with gluten in it. At this point they told me it's "just a little bit" of gluten and actually laughed a little bit while saying this to me. I don't think I need to explain how ignorant and unacceptable this is. I told them that there is nothing funny about this and that they could have made me very ill with this error. They also they risk making other people sick if they choose to place faith in their inaccurate menu labels. I'm very disappointed in this experience and will...

We found their menu very appealing with so much variety that we were gladly confused what to choose.

Below are the dishes we ordered:

Chicken Cashew Curry had no salt no curry. Not sure why it is named like that. It was dry and full of boiled veggies bathed in some sauce with no taste.

Szechuan Chicken also was dry with no salt and boiled veggies.

The chicken pieces also were completely tasteless.

Chicken Fried Rice hardly had any chicken in it.

Luckily we had Oyster Sauce , Soy Sauce and corn flour at home and we had to stir fry Chicken Cashew Curry and Szechuan Chicken again at home to avoid wasting food.

If we only had to cook food, why would we spend money to get ready food?

It was a complete waste of hope, time and money.

It was the first time we ordered and we're highly...

Pretty bad, $110 for four items, and only one was decent. Maybe because it was an early takeout order at 11:40am, or from mostly the Chinese side of menu rather than Vietnamese, or takeout rather than dine in…regardless it’s inexcusable, especially at the extreme menu prices… Was surprised how quickly they said it would be ready, and the food was waiting after only 10-15 mins - clearly nothing prepared fresh or even put in a properly heated wok. . Sechuan beef not remotely spicey, inexplicably sweet and veggies all mushie. No wok hei to any of the items. Fried rice had ample “stuff” but bland, thin spring rolls had too hard monolithic crust and filling lacked flavour. Only Singapore vermicelli was enjoyable, and comparable to other resto versions… but at 40%...

This is one of the few Vietnamese/Asian restaurants in Ottawa that have a patio (kanata noodle house nearby also had one). The bonus of this restaurant is that they serve a variety of Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai dishes. The Chinese chicken and broccoli over rice was delicious, the crispy beef dish was good also but a bit too sweet for my tastes. We also ordered Vietnamese ice coffee and that is why I'm taking off one star; this was not the usual authentic drip coffee, it is the 3 in 1 instant coffee with a pungent aftertaste... I hate this specific coffee brand. Going to a restaurant to order this coffee is usually a joy and no other Vietnamese restaurant I've been to in Ottawa has done this shortcut.

The Phu-Yen Restaurant serves Vietnamese and Chinese Food. Please note: Covid 19 Protocols in place here. Stoped in for lunch today, my Niece and I had the Pho Noodle Soup (with rare beef) Bean Sprouts and Basil we added siracha hot sauce. It was so good,( I want more lol). I also had some Chinese Food, Egg Rolls- Chicken Fried Rice Almond Guy Ding and sweet and sour chicken balls. Everything was absolutely delicious very hot and fresh ingredients. We are outside today as it was beautiful out. You can dine in, the decor is nice the staff very friendly. Clean washrooms. I can't wait to go back and try some different dishes, I know I won't be disappointed. Cheers!
