Channing Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Owen Sound

This is my go-to restaurant!! Their food is above standard and is consistently delicious. My absolute favorite is their Sesame Chicken. I have tried this dish at every Asian restaurant I have been to. None have come even minutely close to Channings Sesame Chicken. There is minimal breading and maximum chicken and their sauce is delicious. I get this dish at least once per week and it is always, always the same....delicious and consistent in its' preparation. You never have to worry about who is cooking and whether or not the dish you order will be as good as it was the last time you had it. It will be. I have been getting take out from Channings for years and have never had a dish that was not above-standard and remarkably good! I highly recommend Channings...

Terrible service, long wait. We walked in and the waitress actually turned her back to us and ran to the back of the restaurant, without making eye contact. After a couple of mins, standing like fools at the front door, we then walked up to the back counter to inquire if we should seat ourselves. We were dismissed abruptly with a "yes, sure". Then the waitress never brought menus or even water. A family seated in the booth beside us (where we seated ourselves) told us they were still waiting for food after 45mins. When, after 10mins, no server even approached our table, we got up and left. I can't believe this place has a 4 star rating! There is no way the food makes up for such...

I visited for the first time yesterday with an out of town guest. We went for lunch. It was a terrible day out as Victoria Day weekend typically is in this area. We rarely have beautiful weather so that has an impact on the businesses. The woman who served us is the owner, I think. Very friendly, professional. I have no photos to share but I can say we both loved our dishes and there were leftovers to take home. We’ll definitely be back. I will be back for a meal myself. As a local I’m a bit surprised the restaurant isn’t busier and I prefer a local business to spend my money at rather than the larger , chain wide restaurants. I highly recommend...
