Went for the first time today at noon, and for some reason I expected more of a take-out place with a few tables. I walked in and was met with sheer elegance. It is a beautiful place to dine. I was greeted by a young man with a big smile and escorted to my booth. I couldn't decide what I wanted, so he helped me figure it out based on my preference. I ordered the raspberry mojito- so nice to have fancy refreshing drinks that aren't alcoholic, and to see him picking mint leaves off a little plant and grind them with a mortar and pestle just added to the drink. I then ordered the Old Delhi Ka Lamb Korma, Pan Seared Rice with Onions and Peppers and the Tandoori Butter Roti- it was all absolutely delicious, with enough left over to bring home. I then ordered the Dessert Desire, which has samplers of 3 different desserts on it- so good. I did spend a fair little bit, but I think two of us could have eaten that quite happily and been full. I will definitely be back.
EDIT: Went back and took my son, and we left there very pleasantly full. We had the Punjabi Dum Aloo (stuffed potato skins in a tomato gravy) the Because I love It butter chicken, pan seared rice with onion and peppers and Tandoori Buttered Roti, and I started with a Mango Lassi, which is like a mango smoothie. It was all...
Read moreIndian Desire in Owen Sound is hands down one of the best Indian restaurants in the area. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with a warm and cozy ambience that makes you feel right at home. The décor is simple yet inviting, and the background music adds to the welcoming atmosphere without being overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a quiet dinner, celebrate with friends, or bring your family for a special meal. Their menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes that are full of flavor. The butter chicken here is absolutely a must-try — creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced with spices. Pair it with their soft, buttery garlic naan, and you’ve got a combination that’s hard to beat. Another highlight is their lamb keema naan with gravy, which might just be the best you’ll ever taste. The flavors are bold yet comforting, and the portion sizes are generous, giving great value for money. What makes Indian Desire stand out even more is their excellent service. The staff are attentive, friendly, and always ready with helpful suggestions if you’re unsure what to order. Honestly, it’s worth making the trip from Port Elgin/Southampton to Owen Sound just for...
Read moreAmazing butter curry ! ( aptly named “because I love it “) One serving shared by my wife and and I was enough for supper with rice. Garlic naan was chewy and delicious but I’m going to try plain next time and hope it is less oily and fluffy . I specified low salt for my order and everything was perfect ! Had the chicken biryani rice and it was very fragrant and had a wonderful combination of herbs and spices. Definitely one of the most authentic restaurants in town . Would love to see more tastings so we could order 4 items for under $50 . A bit of curry, some, biryani ( a good 160 g of chicken ….could be less greasy ) , and my personal favourite which is not yet on the menu…..onion bjajis! Pleeeez bring them back to owen sound ! With a Tiger beer it could be a weekly treat! If you could describe all items on the menu online the items in English, and pictures showing portion sizes o and how many grams the serving is, it makes us know we are getting good food for value. And your restaurant gives us lots of food for reasonable value! Much better than the chain stores! Educate us , listen to our ideas, and we will be faithful...
