Chef Wok — Restaurant in Owen Sound

CHEF WOK IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE in the ENTIRE CITY! I only gave it 4 stars because Im wishing theyd open another restaurant in the other side of the peninsula so I wouldnt have to bribe the only person in our house with a lisence to drive me into Owen Sound when my cravings strike! Lol! The food is delightful! We always order 2 or more different dinners off the individual dinner menu depending on how many of us are eating & make like a buffett when we get home. Everyone gets decent size portions of their favorites, we stuff ourselves silly & usually have enough left over for the next days lunch! The folks that left bad reveiws, I just cant see how they had a bad experience! Ive been ordering from them for over 20 years RELIGIOUSLY, these fine folks have seen my family thru bday dinners, quick dinners, just me at home & treat myself dinners all these years, the foods ALWAYS fresh, hot, huge portions, excellent variety of all the best & favorite choices ud see others & urself order at any chinese food restaurant, theyll even mix & match if u are POLITE & ask giving a reasonable explanation(ie: allergies). Its been a while since my last visit & i actually honestly was expecting their prices to go up..as they should but prices havent gone up by much & for the meal u receive for the price u pay ITS BAR NONE THE BEST in the entire city...& ive been dragged reluctantly to the all the others & the quality, quanity of the food in those other restaurantsfor the price u pay...TRUST ME U ARE BETTER OFF to order Chef wok & eat at home!(or wherever u choose...

So i ordered wonton soup from here about a week ago took the lid off the soup it was super hot looked like it was just boiled a drop of soup hit my chest causing a 2nd degree burn went i went in to tell them the staff and manger were super friendly and very understanding but when I was given a phone to talk to Tony he basically said he had people say the soup wasn't hot enough before and he can't regulate the temperature also saying if customers heard what happened they would laugh and when i went in to tell them I was trying not to make a seen or for people to hear me also he wouldn't let me get a word in basically called me a liar saying he knows all his customers well he doesn't I have been going here for the last 3 years when the fishing derby is on i spend a 1 or more in owen sound and go to his restaurant 12-14 times while I am here cause it's good for and not to expensive. To add to what happened I drove close to 10 mins with the soup before I opened it so how could it be so hot. Tony would also not let me get a word in or offer and compensation for lossing a day in the derby not to mention the pain for 3 days he got me so frustrated I just stopped talking to him and gave the phone back.

Little message for Tony my cousin is a lawyer I have witnesses so if you want to go that route that's fine.

Also I know alot of people that come here and live here i can surly let...

The team working there are friendly and very helpful. This restaurant is takeout.

I ordered a combo #3 and wonton soup.

The soup was really good, broth was tasty and wontons were good and meaty.

My combo was supposed to be fried rice, chop suey, chicken balls and shrimp. The fried rice was fresh, well prepared and flavouful as was the chop suey. The chicken balls were not good. First they are just massive they are about 3 inches in diameter, the batter is very thick, super chewy and just all around not pleasant. What about the shrimp you ask? I don't know how they are...they never made it into my meal, so that was disappointing to say the least.

Even with the negatives, there was enough good about the food and service, that I will try them again, but just won't order the chicken balls and will be sure to check my order...
