Pappy’s in Owens Hall came highly recommended, so we decided to give it a try for a family dinner. While there were some positives, unfortunately, our experience fell short in several areas.We were greeted warmly upon arrival, and the ambiance is undeniably pleasant. The restaurant has a charming, classic Italian decor that creates a welcoming atmosphere. However, our dining experience was marred by several issues.First, we noticed that there was no children's menu, which made it a bit challenging to find suitable options for our youngest. We ended up ordering pizzas for the whole family, while our daughter opted for a soup and salad. Unfortunately, the wait time for our food was excessively long, which was particularly tough with kids in tow.When the food finally arrived, the pizzas were a major disappointment. The crust, in particular, was the worst I’ve ever tasted—it was flat, white, and completely flavorless. It lacked any seasoning and didn’t seem to have risen at all. I had ordered the fajita pizza, and while the toppings were decent, the crust really detracted from the overall dish. My partner’s pizza was equally underwhelming, though my son, who ordered a pepperoni pizza, seemed to enjoy his meal, finding the flavor to his liking.As for our daughter, she loved her soup and salad. However, we were under the impression that the soup would be served with bread, which turned out to only be included with the larger portion. This detail could have been communicated more clearly.Given the long wait, the lackluster pizza crust, and the overall inconsistencies, I can only give Pappy’s a 2 out of 5 stars. Oh man, Papi's hit it out of the park again. This time, my honey had the Trout with a cream cheese sauce, garlic mash, and carmelized carrots. Every time he has this dish, he complements the chef. The chef really knows how to cook fish so the skin is crispy, and the trout is moist. I had the chicken sandwich with bacon and tomato bacon jam. That is the secret. Lord, that ham is so good. The chicken was soft and juicy and had a little crunch to it. The hand cut fries are better than a chipy truck special. Oh, wait! Dessert!! Homemade lemon meringue pie for honey and peanut butter cup cheese cake. I had no room to order this, but I did it anyway, and there are no regrets. Home run Chef !!!

Second time's the charm !!! So, we had to try more delicious food. Tonight, I had the special Gnocchi and steak in a truffle cream sauce😍. My honey had the trout with mango salsa, mash potatoes, and asparagus. It was truly award winning. The fish was cooked perfectly. The chef is a class A chef. He truly knows what he is doing, and the baker is talented with her Bailey's cheesecake. AMAZING! Again.

Good Lord, their food is amazing. Homemade recipes! Homade tomato soup and grilled cheese on homemade oat bread with homemade tomato and bacon jam!!! To die for !! I mean sorry you won't like !!! Don't go to my new favorite place for the homemade chocolate raspberry cheesecake😋. The cauliflower...

I know we’ve got some fantastic eateries in Niagara. But this place.. right here.. might give a few of my favourites a run for their money.

The minute we opened the front door, we knew we were welcome. And we knew they valued everyone who walked through their front door. It was obvious.

There was something that made you feel welcome, and made you feel like you belonged.

It’s a family run business. The food is homemade. Their menu lets you know where they locally source their beef, and their fish.

I couldn’t resist the thoughts of a true homemade tomato soup with parm and a homemade grilled roll. It was spectacular and I brought the rest home to finish tomorrow. 🍅

And then when you’re told that there’s homemade gnocci.. well I had to order that. It was ridiculous. In the best way possible. I mean it.

Frank ordered a steak. And it outshone any and all steak we’ve had out in a very long time. (Yes.. I had a bite or two. Don’t judge me).

It seemed like every bite has its own subtle and yet distinct flavour.
