This review is in regards to the Owen Sound, Ontario location. It is always very clean. Although they share bathrooms with the attached Harvey’s location, they look after the bathroom facilities, which are always clean, with enough toilet paper, paper towels etc. There is also a stall for wheelchair/walker bound folks, and there’s enough room for said individuals to manoeuvre around to get in and out of the bathroom. I can always count on the food being great here. Whether I’m famished or just want a quick bite before doing my groceries, it’s always good. I have always said that Swiss Chalet has the best french fries, but above they were calling them “soggy” fries, don’t know what those are. I chose that only because I don’t like the chalet sauce on my fries. In regards to service it is great. All of the wait staff I’ve had have been nice and friendly. However, I’d like to point out one particular server named Angie. She is spectacular! She always treats everyone like they’re the only people she has, and will go out of her way to do things for you to make your dining experience a pleasant one. She always has a smile on her face, which is a real pick me up for the customers, I know it has had that effect on me more than once! Also, she’s great with new employees. For example, there was a young girl with ok english. Angela took her under her wing, and was helpful with tips to help her get accustomed to the way things are done. She has unlimited patience and is so kind. Before I became a “regular”, she was wonderful to me. If I had a special request it was always done with a smile, and if, for some reason, she couldn’t help me, she was always very apologetic, even though it was out of her control. You could tell that she really wants her customers to be totally happy with their dining experience. I wish that every Swiss Chalet had as hard a worker as Angela is, not to mention a very important member of Owen Sound’s team, they are very lucky to have her! If you go for lunch make sure to say hi to Angie, as she’ll most...
Read moreWe come to this restaurant at least once a week and we drive an hour to get here. We were taken to our booth and then approached by Cathy C. We ordered water with lemon and a straw and she immediately jumped on us and said we do not have any straws and proceeded to say this is so embarrassing and the waitresses take the blunt of everything when we don't have stuff. So on with that we ordered a chicken pot pie and she said we don't have any and immediately there again proceeded to say how embarrassing this is for the waitresses because we have to take the blunt of everything when we don't have what people order. So then my husband ordered chicken tenders and she immediately said we don't have any of those either. And then also said our next thing they don't have any chicken wings either. And once again said we don't have any of this but it's the waitresses that take the blunt of everything this is so embarrassing. So we proceeded to tell her it's not the waitress's fault that the restaurant is not getting their food shipped in then finally my husband ordered a rib sandwich and fries which the rib sandwich bun was burnt and I ordered the hot chicken sandwich. Very disappointed in the whole experience today. First time ever we have left here not wanting to come back to hear everything from the server either. We have never had this experience here before from any other...
Read moreOwen Sound location. We went for dinner at 5:30 on Friday Nov 26th. Were seated, received our beverages quickly, and after an hour of no food we left. I filed a complaint with head office. The owner called to apologize, blamed everyone from the waitress to their only having one oven. She said they were busy with deliveries and drive thru, so I assume physical guests are on the bottom of the rung when it comes to service. She did mention that someone should have come out and asked if we would have liked a salad while we were waiting, or if we'd like to order an appetizer. It is the manager's job to be aware of what is happening in the dining room and get in front of the situation. This tells me they have not taken the time or spent the money to properly train their staff. And now I wonder if the ball is dropped front of house what's going on on the kitchen? If you make a mistake, own it, don't pass rhe buck or tell your customer your woes. The real insult here is the offer of a single free quarter chicken dinner for making two people sit one hour., literally less than a $4 cost apology. Apologies are not negotiations, put yourself in your customer's place and offer what is reasonable not what you would offer a ten year old. As much as we enjoy the Chalet Swiss, as the kids say these days, we won't be...
