Well, first off, I should note that this review is not based on the food and service in general of this Restaurant chain. I have been to one of our local (London On.) Boston Pizza restaurants and have found that, in general, they are a very acceptable, if not slightly above the norm, when it comes to service and food quality. That being said, while visiting the Owen Sound area this past weekend, we found ourselves looking for a quick pizza to satisfy our hunger and not being familiar with the local mom and pop pizza place (usually in my opinion a better product than large chain pizza) we decided to pay the premium price and stop at Boston Pizza for a take out pizza in the hope of getting something decent.. well, that did not happen. To be very honest, this pizza had to be the worse pizza I have had in many years! Yes, even worse that those cheap 5 dollar deal (little “you know what) pizzas.. the crust was dry, the sauce and cheese were nowhere to be found and the meat was, well, hard to say how it was because I only found about 1 gram of it hiding underneath a piece of dried jalapeño. .. I hate being this negative but for a company which somehow decided to put the word pizza in their name, you would think they would pay a bit more attention to quality control in their kitchen!! In all fairness, I have to say that this was probably a “one off” because I honestly can’t imagine that a restaurant could survive if “my pizza” was the norm! Unfortunately, this doesn’t change the fact that I paid 30 dollars for what amounted to cardboard with half a cheese string on it and even said thank you the the very nice hostess for this product as I was leaving the front door with what I believed to be pizza in my hand.. I honestly hope my experience was just a “one off” and a bad mistake as I would hate to believe that anyone in the food business could keep producing such a bad product and stay...
Read moreI had came here with my family, on our first trip as a family to Owen Sound, we had decided to have our last meal in Owen Sound at Boston Pizza.
The food we had was a Signature Pizza called Tropical Chicken with Alfredo sauce, pizza mozzarella, cheddar, bacon, spicy chicken breast and pineapple which was delicious and we are Caribbean so the spicy chicken breast on top of the pizza was spicy enough to bare and tasted really great. For the kids meals, we had Bugs ‘N’ Cheese which came with colourful pasta, fries and an Oreo dairy delight drink which to my surprise, the pasta tasted really good (wanting to have a bowl for myself) and was filling for a child. The kid meal came with a dessert which was Worms N’ Dirt and the softness of the pudding and taste was yummy! The lemonade (in the Guinness glass) was toothsome, light sour taste and a large dollop.
The reason for the 4-star rating for service was because our server forgot to bring our drinks after our meals were delivered, usually the drinks come first and then the food, which in turn my other family member had to ask for the drinks and the server had forgotten and furthermore, when we were done, it took us 15 minutes to look for our server to get the bill. My family member had to search and find our server after a while to get serviced. Just little things but I remember when I was a server, and how overwhelming it can be to overlook many tables while keeping on task and focused.
Great place to eat and food was delectable, and...
Read moreI will start off by saying this - we KNOW there are staffing shortages EVERYWHERE. We know that this pandemic has made things very difficult for many business. That said, if you are that short on staff, maybe close some of your tables instead of sacrificing quality and timeliness and the mental and physical well-being of your staff. 5 of us sat, were asked our drinks order, (2 beers, 2 waters, 1 pop), and received them 15 minutes later. Then we were asked our dinner order and waited more than 30 minutes for that (simple orders - 2 rib dinners, 1 pasta, 1 salad with chicken and our vegetarian ordered 2 sides - caesar salad and mashed potatoes). The only order that came out proper and decent was the pasta. The 98 year old Lady who was in our party was the last to be served... 11 minutes after everyone else was. The ribs were dry, 1 order was requested no sauce, came with sauce on it. One order was seasonal veg, got coleslaw. The caesar salad was ordered without croutons... you guessed it, came with croutons... 11 minutes later her other side of garlic mashed potatoes came out, with the salad and chicken coming out at the same time. The food was not good, the salads were awful, and it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences Ive ever had. Dont waste your time eating here, its seriously one of the most frustrating experiences Ive ever had in half a century...
