Heritage Place — Local services in Owen Sound

Still some good stores. The restaurant listed in the retailer directory is located outside of the mall and beside the mall. The number of stores in the mall has drastically dropped. People's Jewellers has left and other stores. Have spoken to the manager of the mall via phone and also via email. Other than getting a new pair of shoes, I haven't been in the mall for several months. The Canadian Shoe Outlet deserves a five star review and the other stores that are still open. In my honest opinion the mall needs new and better ownership and better rents to attract new shops such as a jewellery store, candy shop, clothing store, restaurant i.e. The Pickle Barrel, a Chapter's bookstore, movie theatre, etc. This can be done.Very disappointed that the current owners of the mall and the management have done nothing to make these changes to attract more shoppers and new business owners. Mid-priced malls like this one are dying in droves these days and this place badly needs to be put out of it's misery. The food court basically doesn't exist, there are empty stores everywhere and even at Christmas it's rarely busy. I've heard that CF and other mall owners make retailers put stores in weaker malls like this in order to get a spot at bigger more prestigious malls, like Yorkdale in Toronto. That must be the case here because I can't imagine how anyone makes a profit here. Sears' demise is bad but this mall was a sad, tired little place long...

Even though Owen Sound has a fairly large population (over 20k) for a city near Tobermory or full of nature, they don't have much options for shopping unlike in Collingwood (similar population but much more selection for shopping available).

I would have thought this shopping center would have more attention but was disappointed when we got there. Many stores inside closed down, no food restaurants just few clothing stores like Sport Chek and Leon's and Food Basics. The parking lot was huge with four mall entrances, but I would definitely not recommend...
