Follow up review to my last one where I complained the Brisket, well isn't really a Brisket. After that review (can't recall if here on google or to their head office ?), the manager was kind to apologize for my experience and sent me $30 gift coupons. After some months, we made it out there again (with the same family couple we were there last time with). and I asked the waitress to please check with the chef if today, the brisket is truly fresh and juicy and worthy of a good brisket and safe for me to try again ? I wanted to get the trio-combo plate (ribs, brisket & wings). I like variety. She came back and said it's fresh and good today, so I trusted their honesty & integrity here). Well, I shouldn't have !! the Brisket again was truly not good. I had my cousin try a piece and said this ain't no Brisket (the way it should be, by any standards). I make better at home on my Masterbuilt 590. My flat portion of the brisket (which is the part Montana's serves) never comes out as awesome as my point side does (no one's does), but I usually have a hit and miss on my flat, but even my miss, is a bit better than this one at Montana's in Peterborough. I know it's not an easy part to make awesome juicy, but if you can't at least make it reasonably o.k. and edible, just don't bother and 86 it off the menu for good !!! Stupid me for trying it again and ruining my lunch out with family. It was dry and only partially tender (not the worst on the planet), but really, I couldn't eat it unless I forced it, just because. I told the waitress (which was good and nice) and she sent the manager. I showed him how the brisket looked and even, further disappointment, the small ribs that came in the trio plate, was also dry. I bent it/pulling it away for him to see how overcooked the ribs were too !!! Oddly this small rib section, one side was juicy and I like it and the balance of it was so dry. Kind of odd like this small piece was cooked with some kind of divider cooking part nice and the other, over cooked. Really weird, but it was the case. Manager offered me something else, but my wife and I don't like asking for other food when we're giving an Honest feedback (don't like calling a complaint, as I am not a complain everything type of person), but believe in giving honest feedback or restaurants will never improve if people are not honest, in case someone wants to spit in our food. Not saying this would happen here, but to be safe we don't ask for other food to be replaced. I didn't finish the Brisket, may have left the one bone of the ribs too. I did eat the 3 wings, fries and corn bread. They were good. But man, Ribs are their staple and they couldn't be consistent with that. My cousins burger was fine, he said. My wife's Buttermilk chicken, when I asked if hers was overcooked, said, it's o.k. you know I like it that way, meaning, it was a bit over cooked, but my Filipina wife prefers well done everything, worried about bacteria. It's a Filipino thing :-)... so that meant it was a bit over cooked too. Anyways, we've eaten at Montanas thru out the years and more recently, it's been hit and miss. My fault for not trying something else this time that might have been better. Not sure if it's a Peterborough Mantana's thing or I'll find the same bad food in the others. But I plan to error on the side of caution and not go to any of them anymore. Swiss Chalet's ribs are always more consistent and good enough for me. We did stay longer enjoying a few drinks and dessert and chilled. The manager did discount my plate by 50%. Thanks for that. That was fair and nice of him. but If the manager sees this and wants to offer another discount coupon, it's o.k. I will not use. So, I can't recommend to others out there to gamble on having a good meal here. Just...
Read moreWe dined last night at this Montana's location for the first time, as we haven't dined at a Montana's for almost 20 years+ after a very disappointing experience at another location. We made a reservation earlier for 5:30 pm, confirming that we are celebrating a family birthday. We were attempting to keep our dining experience within a 2 hour limit, as we had an event in Peterborough to attend at 7:30 pm. We wanted to order brisket burnt ends for an appetizer as well as our choices of brisket dishes for dinner, but were told that all was sold out due to large crowds earlier this weekend that were participating in a local hockey tournament. We then ordered a spinach dip instead. We were very surprised how small it was, in sharing with 3 adults. The serving size did not match the picture in their menu. We ordered 2 of the regular size rib dinners, with fries and coleslaw, and a double Surf and Turf (lobster tail and 2 white shrimp skewers), with fries and coleslaw. One order of of the ribs was correct with 6 ribs and the other only had 4 small ribs. I brought it to the attention to one of the servers, for assistance. We didn't know any of the servers names the whole night. They brought out 3 more ribs in a separate bowl about 5+ minutes later. The ribs were smaller and over done. My husbands double Surf and Turf was totally COLD, nothing was even warm. Brought it to the attention of one of the servers passing by and they apologized for the oversight and they would get his new order out asap. One other server (possibly Manager) did come back to the table and offered a free caesar salad for the mix-up, which my husband declined. Approximately 25 minutes passed until my husband's replacement dinner arrived to the table, warm but the steak was not hot either. He ordered medium rare, but the steak was bleeding all over the plate, barely cooked on both sides. The featured pictures of these dinners in the menu did NOT match what was served. The male server came flying by our table and said that he was going to discount this $46.99 Surf and Turf dinner by 40%. The small 2 - 3 oz lobster tail was excessively salted and tough, very disappointing. The shrimp had no flavour at all, probably a frozen product like the lobster tail. Wished we brought our phones into the restaurant to take pictures of our dinners. When the last server came with the bill, we told her that the double Surf and Turf wasn't good at all, even with the second attempt to correct. The last server apologized again for our dinners being totally off.... She was quick to say it's their kitchen staff's "messes" that's causing all of these problems! Ran out of time with all of the issues and didn't get to celebrate our family's birthday event. Paid the bill of $166.00 plus tip and would NOT recommend dining at this location. Thought we would give it a try for the first time, after reading the good recent Google Reviews. These reviews are NOT an accurate evaluation of this Montana's location, DO read further and beware for...
Read moreTook my better half and daughter last night for a celebratory dinner, but it was a bad choice. Oct 19th, 2024 Sat evening at 5pm. The place was packed and bustling. We were fortunate to get a table. Our server Kara, came over and wanted us to get started on drinks and appetizers, but we told her we were there for a main course only. However after her persuasion, we agreed to order a bowl of 8 wings, but she insisted we take a large order of 16 wings. The three of us also placed our main orders of steaks with a whole lot of add-ons. I was asked to upgrade my steak from a 7 oz to 12 oz on her hunch that a 7 oz cannot be well done. We finished the wings and waited for about 40 mins for the steaks to come out. We hoped the food was hot given the wait and all, however, all 3 steaks came out all cold. My fries were not even warm at best. Felt soggy like when you microwave them. Our steaks had medallions of garlic butter which remained un-melted for the 20 minutes we struggled to chew on them. My daughter's steak was raw and leaked blood all over her plate even though she ordered medium. We don't complain and I was not going to bring it up but Kara came by and asked about the food. I mentioned the steaks were cold and showed her the medallion of butter on our steaks. She laughed it off and said - it's not that your steaks are cold, the butter is refrigerated and does not melt. I chose not to argue. Paid $179 on the bill and even generously tipped. We are simple people and don't like being misled and cheated. The internal temperature of a steak when served is enough to melt a cube of ice, leave alone butter. I have no idea why they were cold and not cooked right, neither am i interested. Folks, you're money is best spent elsewhere. Thanks...
