The food we had was good, but nothing special. There wasn't anything that immediately stood out on the menu. We had the OG Chicken Sandwich, which I liked. Crispy, light, flaky and moist fried chicken, with a good amount of sauce, though a little less veggies than I would like. My side ceasar salad was well dressed, and full of toppings. We also ordered the EL(P) Chuck burger, and the first time we received it, the burger was undercooked. They remade the burger for us, however the second time around the burger was rather bland, underseasoned, and it seemed a little burnt! Also, no cheese, which for an $18 burger seems a bit stingy. I can't be too upset though, The staff were very accommodating. Our server was very friendly, and was casual but professional. I'll chalk up the burnt burger up to the staff wanting to hurriedly get our food to us, which is negated by the fact that the burger was complementary after we had it re-done, which was much appreciated! The Atmosphere is a bit of a bizarre smorgasbord of vibes and aesthetics, though I can get behind the uniqueness. Though my girlfriend and I had a bit of a chuckle, for a restaurant with above average prices, it's charming that that their cups are from IKEA. I really wanted to try a cocktail, but they were a little pricey, and their slection of beer appeared to only be craft beers, which matches the quirky/alt vibe, and is a little daunting to try for the price. All in all, I had a mostly positive experience and would probably come back again, but not in much of a rush. Maybe give their...

I have been to El P a handful of times, and I usually always love it! However, last nights visit might be my last for a while. The service of our server was very poor, no quality checks and refills of drinks. And we noticed she had many other of her own tables also waiting for her to go over to them.

I noticed it was a new menu last night so I was excited to try. My sister and her friend both got handhelds, and I got the ancient grain salad with side fries. The food took close to an hour to come out, the place was not full. Their handhelds and sides came out cool. My salad came out smothered in only farro grains, there was little to no lettuce in the SALAD. Not to mention my server forget to ring in my fries I’m assuming because when I asked about them she replied “Oh Yes!”, and then it took another 10-12 min for them to come out. I did send my salad back asking for more lettuce in it, that wasn’t a problem. I’ve had the ancient grains salad before and I don’t remember being the way I got it last night.

Overall, not the best food nor service last night. Won’t be back for a while.

(Also don’t except staff and/or owner to answer you back on a bad review. From the looks of it they only answer back to...

Such a weird experience today. We walked into the restaurant around 12:30pm on a sunday. Place was empty and our server was laying down in the bench eating chips. After we almost walked out she realized we were in the restaurant. We were seated and the tables were so sticky the table wear was stuck to the table. We ordered 2 beers and they were as flat as apple juice. Had to get something else. She took our order and the had to come back 2 minutes later to go over it all again as she had forgot. (Prob just write it down if you can’t remember)…she also had a mouth full of food asking us about our order. The food was the only good part of the experience really. Our server just randomly disappeared and another server came out who was actually friendly. When we went to pay our server appeared again to tell us she had to leave to drive a coworker to his car. She took a seat at our table to review the bill again to make sure she had it right, also not proper server etiquette at all lol

Besides all this the place was filthy, floors looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in awhile. Tables were super sticky and dirty.

Don’t really recommend coming here...

My husband and I tried this place for the first time last night. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a couple of service staff and told to "sit wherever we felt comfortable". So far so good because it seemed pretty chill. The waitress came over and offered us menus, drinks, and told us about some specials. We liked the sound of the French Onion soup, and boy was it delicious! We were instantly excited to try our main courses because our app turned out so flavorful. Unfortunately, the mains were just blah. I ordered the Dirty Bird. Despite being smothered in sauce and having condiments on top, it was just okay in flavor. The fries were good. My husband ordered the Half chicken with a side of garlic mash. There is a huge difference between charred and burnt, this half chicken was burnt (photo provided). The garlic mash was fluffy. Overall, other than the French Onion soup, this restaurant didn't really have food that 'knocked my socks off'.

I absolutely love what the owners of the El P have done to this gorgeous heritage building! The artwork, the decor and the beautiful lights work together to create a beautiful atmosphere. I am so impressed with the food too. Top quality and large portions. I have enjoyed brunch, lunch and dinner at this location. The chefs have created a unique and delicious menu! I enjoy having meetings at this location and just experienced my first event in this space. It is gorgeous and unique. I appreciate that all of the staff offer a welcoming, inclusive vibe and great service. If you are planning an event in the future, I highly recommend this venue! I appreciate that this restaurant is very community oriented and offer really cool experiences with dinner and a show options for the downtown! Thank you. I will be coming back! My absolute recommendation is the Truffle Fries but everything I have ordered, I have enjoyed thoroughly!

Amazing spot through and through. The FOH staff were very friendly upon arrival and the vibe is a mixture of eclectic and rustic with a bit of hipness to it. I sat at the bar and had the Truffle Fries and Katsu and both were out of this world. Fresh fries from in house with and the topping mixture seeps with through as you start to chow down. Having lived in Japan for some years I had high expectations on the Katsu and it hit the mark: perfect mixture of some sesame and nori bits to add some flare with lime drizzle. The dips complemented the chicken perfectly and my favourite were bites with a bit of each mixed with some of the greens and cilantro. Chef Danae was super cool to talk to and I highly suggest this spot; I know I’ll be going back to try the whole menu.
