The Pickering location is worth the drive in my opinion vs. the STC location if you are looking for a more relaxed environment.
Remember these are Japanese Souffle Pancakes so they take time to make (approx 20-30 min ...see pic of sign). I recommend coming with friends or grabbing work or a book to wait and do not come thinking you can grab a quick bite so just nothing this to you all so you can avoid disappointment.
They have daily specials and even though the Japanese Souffle Pancakes may be they main attraction my family really enjoyed the Croffles. For our group some of us liked a fluffy texture so we went with the pancakes but others preferred a more firm and solid texture so the Croffles were a welcome edition.
The Souffle Pancakes come in different tiers. The Biscoff and others offerings that had dry toppings taste nice. If you want to take in more of the pancake (which has a hint of a eggy flavor if you like that), then you can go for the saucy toppings like mango and strawberry. Presentation of the dishes are great and the portion size I found to be good.
The Americano coffee I had was good black and didn't need cream. Cappuccino was good also. If you like your Cappuccino's with a little less cream make sure you tell them before hand. The Refresher soda drinks come in a double walled glass and they too take a bit of time to make due to all the ingredients. A tab bit pricy it may seem for the drinks but they are refreshing and good to try at least once. I liked the fresh mint they put in some dishes and the refreshers as it does lend to the overall taste.
Weekdays apparently are not too busy and I have gone a few times and never had to wait in line yet. I think if you are going to go here regularly you should call ahead to see if they can prep your order if possible. Also the last time I was here I think I saw a Door Dash delivery person so you can always get it delivered and wait in the comfort of your home but I think I would prefer the dine in experience. Good little spot for Durham Region and not that far away from Shoeless Joe's and Chuck's if you are looking for a different location to go to...
Read moreHubby and I came here for the 1st time since it's opened. The service was great! Everyone was extremely polite and welcoming! We couldn't decide between the Strawberry and Creme Brulee pancakes since they both looked really good so we got both and shared. I also got an Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte. Food was served to us within 25 mins of waiting.
The presentation for everything was beautiful however the eggy flavour in the pancakes were way too strong for us. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that strong considering it was our very first time eating Japanese pancakes. It wasn't that bad if you ate the pancakes with the side of fruits it came with, just to mix the strong eggy flavor with fruits so you don't notice it overpowering the pancakes.
The atmosphere and choice of music was very relaxing until the balloons that they were setting up inside the store kept popping. Though each time they popped the balloon, they did apologize to us which was very nice however it would have been better to pause that until we left seeing as we were the only customers there at the time and were almost done eating. I personally don't think setting up too many balloons inside was a good idea. The staff was also nice enough to give us a free Fuwa Fuwa water tumbler before we left.
It was on the pricey side but it was great! It's nice to see Pickering get another...
