I wanted to try Carribean food and experience the Carribean way as well. This place gave me that. You know some place in Jamaica or Triny, you enter and see a. Big round plastic table with some plastic chairs around it. Cloth over the table and a lamp hanging right from the center above the table? This place has exactly that. It's dark and dimly lit with Carribean music playing in tbe background (obviously). You want to visit Carribean on a Friday evening and not leave Toronto? 1050,brock st maaan. A strong 4 stars for the ambience. Oh I forgot. It's got a pool table as well. For service. For me service holds alight higher weight than food. Don't get me wrong. The food needs to be tasty. However if it's not 5 star and the service happens to be phenomenal, man I'd fall for it like rock into water. So you enter this dark room and right when you enter is the hostesses desk. They were young and smiling and energetic and best part, not avgresive at all. They were pleasant. I noticed this server, he would sit down or sort of squat and talk to the customer. Very keen and very attentive. Very enthusiastic to engage with the customer. Now the girl who served us. Monique. She was exceptional. Very very patient. Always with a smile and pleasant tone and yet dignified at all times., it was our first time here and we were asking all sorts of questions and never did her tone change and waver. For a young girl to be so patient and pleasant and dignified in an environmet with such high pressure is remarkable and I'm sure she is going places of she wants to. It's so important to be dignified at all times. It's not easy because people push you beyond your limits. However aggression or expressing negatively is only going to degrade your own personality. Anyways Monique was phenomenal and can't thank her enough for her service ( the kinda questions my gf was asking. Even I was like enough already 🙏😁). A very ver strong 4.5 stars for service largely due to Moniques service to us, However when you look around even others are good as well. Now. For the food. Let's face facts. It's Carribean mix food. Chinese Indian and carrib. It's tasty but not your avacadl toast with kale and carrot healthy. It's fried rice and fried chicken and it's got its own charm to it. The only issue we found was that, our rice was a bit stale and my gf is very picky (surprise) on how the food tastes. The chicken was very soft and I loved that. When you don't need an army knife to cut the chicken and can do it with your spoon. I love. It. A. Very strong 3 stars for the food. The staleness got the stars down guys. Anyways overall I would give it a 3.8,stars. However great potential to get to 4 and beyond. Iam going here again. Cheers...

Want to go and hear the person next to you? This is not the place. Want to be served in less then 30 mins for a drink order? Definitely not the place. Want to be charged $123 for a half price app and one dish at $17 because the servers don't know how to be organized so they will at max split the bill five ways even though your party is 10 ppl cause half of you to pay for the other half AND even if you don't drink you still got to split everyone's alcohol then let me tell you THIS IS THE PLACE!!! WORSE SERVICE DUMB MANAGER AND CRAP ENVIRONMENT. the dj was good but deaf clearly. Honestly it does say in tiny print that the bill will only be split 5 ways Max when you make a reservation but 1, not everyone reads the "more" section and 2 not everyone was told since only one person made the reservation and they didn't know. Even if the manager claims the waitress told us I alongnwith 5 others were not there when the rest were, and we couldn't even hear each other like it was awkward how close you had to get to have them hear you and vice versa. The place was slow loud and rude I'll never go back. There are so many better options.

Also if like to add I read some of the reviews here, the less the good ones lots of ppl seem to say the food tasted off rotten or bad one even says soap all withing the last two months... the responses essentially say hey ppl work hard don't be mean it's our lively hood... dude do better multiple ppl are telling you something is off go back look who worked those nights fix the issue don't just cry and say stop being mean we're trying... reviews don't care about your feelings it's about facts... do better but not for my sake I'll never go back and strongly suggest others don't as well.
