Our regular breakfast restaurant was full up and had a huge line to wait for a table, so we decided to give Ben & Florentine a shot, Big mistake...
There's a running theme "first and last visit" in the reviews that I wish I would've paid attention to before going to this establishment.
Though the server was polite and very apologetic, water was not provided for the table until I asked for it midway through our meal. I also spent a good 10 minutes staring at our server, waiving my hand in the air to get her attention to get the water and some condiments... Which should've just been on the table to begin with IMO.
The kicker is that the plates we ordered were all $14+, which is more than we pay at our regular breakfast place. The portion sizes were laughably small in comparison. My GF's plate had about 7 potatoes on it. We asked if they could give a bit more potatoes,a the picture showed a mountain of potatoes. The server said that the kitchen gave the appropriate amount and if we want more, we'll have to pay extra....
With the hefty cost per plate and the smaller portion sizes, we at least expected the food to be better than what we usually get at other breakfast establishments, or at the very least just as good. Sadly this was far from the case. The food was actually not particularly good.
This was my first and last visit to this establishment. Hopefully this review will help save some people their money and allow them to have a better breakfast experience elsewhere.
*The photo is of my GF's plate as it was received... There was a comedically dismal amount...
Read moreAwful Service and food. Our waitress Sonia never smiled at us nor made us feel welcomed. We ordered 3 of the banana chocolate crepe combos and a french toast plate, all of the crepes were just pancakes folded in half with a few bananas and very stingy on chocolate, they were cold and dry, eggs and meat were cold too. My mom found a long black hair in her food, the waitress took our plates and waited 20 minutes before asking us if we want them to redo our plates. We said yes and when the plates came back, they were all cold once again. My mom’s breakfast poutine had no cheese, my bacon was still raw and so was my friend’s french toast. When we told the waitress she sighed at us and acted as if it was an inconvenience. We also had to get her attention somehow because she never came to check on us to see if everything was okay. Overall awful place with awful food and service,...
Read moreFood is always excellent. However the service is pretty awful. If you're looking for somewhere to have a good meal and be in and out this isn't the place. It takes exceptionally long for everything from being seated to being able to order, to getting your food and then even to pay. And that's not even on a busy day. In my opinion the servers are lacking in experience, perhaps training and don't understand time management in the service industry, despite all being very kind. It really takes away from the whole experience. It's actually painful to watch them run around and not tend to people's empty waters and coffees, people waiting at the door to be seated but tables are left dirty from previous clients for twenty or more minutes. It's really something else. I hate to say it because it ages me, but these younger people just don't know...
