Inkanto Peru Gourmet in Pitt Meadows is a highly-rated Peruvian restaurant with an impressive 4.9 stars on Google. We visited on a Sunday afternoon, and although the restaurant isn’t very large, it was completely packed. One table was celebrating a birthday party, and the rest of the tables were filled with what seemed to be mostly Peruvian diners. We were the only Asian faces in the crowd.
Perhaps because we were first-time visitors and stood out a bit, the waitress—a friendly and attentive young lady—went out of her way to make us feel welcome. She thoughtfully checked to see if we understood the menu and even offered to provide photos and detailed explanations of the dishes if needed. Her service was warm and reassuring.
We started with Beef Heart Anticucho, a classic Peruvian dish. The beef heart is marinated in a flavorful sauce, skewered, and grilled to perfection. It was tender, smoky, and absolutely delicious—a great introduction to traditional Peruvian flavors.
While we were enjoying the first dish, the owner surprised us with a complimentary serving of their Seafood Salad (Ceviche)—a new item on the menu. This salad was an absolute delight, featuring a tangy and refreshing lemon-based dressing infused with mint, paired with fresh shrimp, tuna, and squid. It was light, flavorful, and incredibly appetizing. Honestly, it stole the show and became the highlight of our meal!
We also tried the Squid Ink Pasta with Seafood (Pasta en Tinta de Calamar con Mariscos). The pasta was coated in a rich, dark squid ink sauce and served with an abundance of fresh seafood. The flavors were bold and indulgent—perfect for seafood lovers.
The restaurant’s interior was clean and cozy, with a warm ambiance. The presentation of the dishes was carefully done, and the flavors were spot on. It’s no wonder they have such a high rating.
With an average price of $28–$30 per person, it may be on the pricier side, but treating yourself to such a visually and gastronomically satisfying experience is definitely worth it.

Read moreHad an amazing dinner here! Family group of 5, made a reservation just in case and were seated promptly with no problems by Gracia. Gracia was awesome helping us with the menu until our waitress Pierina took over. Pierina took us through the menu more in-depth showing us photos and explained everything so well. Made us want to try everything she was telling us about from the drinks to the food. The drinks were so good and interesting. We tried the Chicha Morada, Quito Quito, and the Lúcuma Milkshake. All three were very good, the Chicha was like a mulled wine, the Quito Quito was refreshing and fruity and the Lúcuma Milkshake was like butterscotch. The food was delicious and so unique. We started with the Aji de Gallina Empanada and I will dream of it, until I can get another one. The dough smelled insanely good when it was set down and the filling was soft and well spiced. The Tamal was hard to follow that Empanada haha, but was still very good. We also tried the Causa Tasting they were soft and very flavourful. We preferred the shrimp and chicken the most, but the tuna was good too. The Scallops with Parmesan were buttery and cheesy, very good. For mains we went with Pierina's suggestion of three of their chefs specials. The Carapulcra Con Arroz was such a delicious, nice and light stew and the pork on top was out of this world good. The Chaufa de Mariscos was a great seafood fried rice, lots of seafood and the squid or octopus was cooked very well. We loved the Lomo Saltado nice and rich soya based sauce, well cooked steak, nice onions and vegetables. Pierina's mother makes amazing desserts. The Creme Volteada and the Tres Leche de Lúcuma were both delightful, quite light and not overly sweet, loved them both. Prices were reasonable and the food was more than worth it. Wish we had taken some photos ourselves to post, but we wanted to dig in so fast we forgot to haha Will definitely be wanting to...

As a Peruvian living in Canada, my experience at Inkantu, a local Peruvian restaurant, has been a rollercoaster ride, but ultimately a delightful journey into the heart of Peruvian cuisine.
Initially, my excitement was dampened by two failed attempts to dine at Inkantu due to logistical hiccups and ingredient shortages. However, my perseverance paid off on the third visit, scheduled for noon to ensure a full selection of dishes.
Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted, setting the tone for a truly authentic dining experience reminiscent of home. Inkantu is a family-run establishment, which adds a layer of authenticity to every dish served.
The menu boasted a variety of classic Peruvian delights, we ordered fish ceviche, anticuchos and sopa criolla. Even rare treats like Lucuma juice were available, showcasing the restaurant's dedication to sourcing genuine Peruvian ingredients. Everything was Delicious !!!
While the waiting time was reasonable, reservations are a must due to the restaurant's popularity. It's evident that word has spread about Inkantu's culinary prowess, as the place was bustling with eager diners.
What truly sets Inkantu apart is their exceptional customer service. Despite the crowded dining area, and reservations only in order to eat here, I witnessed the owners going above and beyond to accommodate walk-in guests with grace and respect. Witnessing this level of hospitality was a testament to their commitment to customer satisfaction.
In conclusion, my dining experience at Inkantu exceeded expectations. The food was not only authentic but also generously portioned and reasonably priced.
