Longhorn Saloon & Grill — Restaurant in Ponoka

I was overnight in Ponoka last night so asked a friend for a recommendation for a good local restaurant and he suggested The Longhorn - I am very glad he did. In this COVID world of take-out my expectations are lower but I was not at all disappointed with The Longhorn. The meal was ready promptly, the service was friendly and engaging at pickup, the price was very reasonable, the food was still hot when I got back to my hotel despite the cold temperature outside and the meal was delicious! The French Onion Soup was very good and the salmon and steamed vegetables I ordered were perfectly cooked (i.e. not overdone) and even the rice was light and fluffy. I will definitely eat there again The next time I am through Ponoka and look forward to trying more...

Our server Veronica was exceptional. We had 3 kids, one a toddler,2 parents,and 2 grandparents. All were hungry, and 1ctoddler impatient for his pasta. We asked Veronica if the pasta could be brought sooner than the rest of the food. She went to the kitchen and returned a few minutes later with spaghetti,saying some the chefs had toddlers too,and know how frustrating it is with an impatient child and they prepared it on the spot for the little boy,who thoroughly enjoyed most of the serving! The rest of us enjoyed the calamari (gluten free deep fried) EXCELLENT,!, fish & chips great, prime rib special awesome, and deluxe hamburger dripping with yummy juices from everything that was on it. Would recommend this...

Went there with 3 other people for my birthday. All 4 orders were wrong. One person got a poutine and they forgot to put gravy on it. Another got chicken ceaser with hardly any dressing and instead of just bringing her dressing they made another but smaller salad with no chicken. Myself and my roommate ordered medium rare steak with mashed potatoes. Our steaks were well done and the potatoes were very salty. Had them remake it and the steak was still redone.
