Myself and a few girlfriends ate there yesterday, and I have to say it was one of the most disappointing meals I've eaten in a long time. I ordered the grilled cheese & tomato soup. The sandwich was ridiculously small, enough for a child maybe. The soup portion measured no more than 3/4 cup. FOR $17. Two friends had the beet salad with their orders, which was literally chunks of beet preserves dumped over some wilted greens. Both returned the salads when the waitress came over. She said she would remove them from their bills. When the bills arrived, one person got the salad removed, but the other person, they deleted the salad, but then charged her for the two tiny pieces of garlic bread, saying since they didn't charge her for the salad, her soup now became a combo and she now had to pay $3 for the bread (which she said was the only thing that made the candied salmon chowder edible btw).
When we attempted to discuss it with the manager, she was condescending and just kept repeating the combo reason, pretending she didn't grasp what was happening. We paid for our mediocre, over priced meals and walked out.
So for $3, you lost 4 customers and everyone else we will tell. Steller business choice! Skip...
Read moreMe and another 9 students came here for supper, and I can’t recommend this place enough! The server (owner?) was really friendly, even showing us a video of whales, and is very clearly passionate about his job. The service itself was fantastic as well, constantly refilling water and making sure everyone was happy. For only having two people working, and a table of 10 along with a couple others, it really took no time at all to get our food, maybe 20 minutes for all of us. I got chicken strips and a virgin mojito. For being a simple food item, the strips were incredible! And the mojito was wonderfully minty. Everyone else loved the food, I heard no complaints. The food is a great price for the quality! The strips were $14.50 and the drink was $6. With taxes the whole thing was $21.95. Again completely worth it. The building itself is very cozy, no notes here aside from the candles on the table which I thought was a nice touch. You can also get a good view of the inlet and the mountains, weather permitting. GO HERE IF YOU’RE EVER IN PORT ALBERNI!!! It’s a...
Read moreThis was my first time here, I would gladly return again if in the area.
Kelly and Kenya were who seated and took my order and even with the place packed on new year's eve they were full smiles and genuine hospitality.
I had the appetizers of calamari and the coconut onion rings. Good squid be good. None of that deep fried eraser feeling. Served with some onions and peppers for both color and flavor.
The onion rings were fryer hot and fresh, a light golden fry that tells me the oil is also clean and new. The flavor and crunch confirms it.
At this point I had forgotten I ordered an entree and worried I might not be able to finish it.
Entree joined the Clean Plate Club.
The butter chicken hot pot was absolutely fantastic. The coconut basmati rice was cooked perfectly and half an hour afterwards I still feel warm from the spice.
I peered into their kitchen and just from the breif view I saw how clean it was. I've been a supervisor in both a kitchen and a bakery, if I am ever in the area, I am ordering...
