WARNING: Please read this before you ever contemplate coming here.
I have come here a number of times, I was mainly attracted to the cheap prices. And cheap, low quality sushi is what I got. That was a fair deal. But it went unessarily beyond being cheap, low quality food. In fact. I have never been so horrified by a business in my entire life. And my expectations are not too high. Every single time I went in I got horrible “customer service” from the main server there. And from the looks of it, too many share this experience as well. In fact, I stopped eating in the restaurant because of the service, or lack thereof. One time, she (the main server) took about 40 minutes to acknowledge that we were in the restaurant, and when she did acknowledge us it was very hostile and aggressive. Because of that, and the soggy cold food we received, we had no obligation to tip... quite the opposite actually. We should have gotten our money back.
Flash forward to a recent incident where I decided I order out from them to avoid the terrible experience of eating inside that filthy restaurant. As I mentioned earlier, I have ordered from there several times, thus I’m positive she recognized my number as I called. We go in to pick it up and she has our food waiting. We take it home and are immediately astonished to see our sushi is moist. We more closely examined it, and it had a rotten, garbage smell. The fish was slimy and liquidy. We shrugged it off as maybe being a sauce they use, and did we ever regret that. Just so you know folks, basic tuna rolls DON’T have added sauce. A clear red flag we ignored. We both felt our stomach blowing up, I felt lightly nauseated. To this day we have no idea what we were eating, potentially sushi that was sitting around for weeks, or a fabrication of organic waste materials. Either way, this food was toxic and we felt the effects immediately (luckily we didn’t eat much). We can only guess at this point why we were given the bad batch, but I suspect it has something to do with us not tipping.
We returned the sushi back to its rightful place, and my god was she not surprised to see us. In fact, there was absolutely no hesitation or resistance of her part (big red flag). She barely listened to our complaint before she went straight to the cash register to refund us. The owner on the other hand, who wasn’t there when the whole initial transaction took place, pathetically tried to suggest that he just got new tuna that day (a Sunday). But last time I checked, edible tuna didn’t smell like garbage, make us sick, and have slim all over it. But luckily we got our money back as she scurried us out.
If you care about your health, safety, or that of your kids and loved ones, then don’t go here. For those who take it a step further and are conscientious about what businesses they support with their money, you need to think twice before giving these people a means to continue operating.
I have NEVER written a poor review about a restaurant, let alone a review this long and detailed. But the experience that I went through is something I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. And when this place shuts down, I will feel much more at ease.
Please take my word,...
Read moreWe have been regular customers at this restaurant, but our last two experiences have been disappointing.
Dine-In: During our recent visit, the fish was not fresh, and our plates were dirty. We had to ask for clean ones, and even then, the waiter insisted they were fine until I wiped one with a tissue to show her the spot of dirt. The pickled ginger was inedible—very bitter—which affected the taste of the sushi pieces nearby. Surprisingly, they only addressed the ginger and not the inedible sushi! They also forgot one of the rolls we ordered, and when we inquired, the waitress claimed we hadn't asked for it.
Takeout: We called around 8:30 PM, half an hour before closing, and were informed they would only accept cash since the cashier was closed. We ordered about $55 worth of food, which was ready in 15 minutes. However, except for one roll, the rest was awful. The fish tasted off and smelled really bad, and the pickled ginger was bitter again. We ended up throwing most of the food away. The few bites we had was enough to make us both feel sick. Tribble stomachache!
The next day, I spoke with the lady behind the counter about our experience. She seemed rushed and didn’t let me finish my explanation, offering a $5 discount coupon for our next visit. When I expressed my concerns about the quality of the fish, she dismissed them, saying, "No, the fish is good here... okay, we’ll talk to the owner!" I tell you what, the owner is behind all of this to save cost!
As loyal customers who love supporting local businesses, we are disappointed. This was our favorite sushi restaurant, but we can’t return after these experiences.

Read moreI have been a customer of this place for about 9 years and I barely review anything but the sheer length of time that I have spent at this place compels me to give one now.
In the beginning, they were simply incredible. Cheap prices, combined with huge portions. I have been to well over 100 sushi restaurants in fraser valley and they have been the best of all. The only contendor was Banzai Sushi in Richmond or their sister location, Samurai Sushi House on Cambie. Salmon was the thing that attracted me the most as they used to offer 8 pieces of sashimi for 9 dollars.
Fast forward to 2021, I will not be coming back, for greener pastures have emerged. Size dwindled and prices shot up. Now that by itself is not a problem as food prices and inflation have led to a general increase everywhere. Other aspects of the restaurant have, unfortunately, decayed as well.
I suspect it was the change in owners around 5 years ago, but food quality diminushed. Lots of vinegar in the rice, and less than enthousiastic staff. The most infuriating thing is their habit of shortchanging you, most commonly in pickup orders, and with salmon and tuna, which are the most expensive items on the menu.
Today, to celebrate my fathers birthday, we bought a large amount of sushi for them. We drove almost 1.5 hours in the godawful traffic from Cloverdale for the food because such was Hiro's reputation with us.
We were given 20$ less in salmon sashimi, and that amount was used as tip to deceive us. It is a shame to see what this place has become and to this day, there is no equal to what they once were.
I am never coming back and I urge all customers to triple check everything that you pay and...
