Sushiway — Restaurant in Port Coquitlam

Went for SUSHI 🍣 tonight, and while the FOOD was AMAZING, the SERVICE was an ABSOLUTE DISASTER.

We decided to visit because the reviews ONLINE looked GREAT ⭐, but what we experienced was FAR from what those reviews promised. It turns out those reviews might not even be genuine because we saw a SIGN ON THE TABLE 📋 saying, “Leave a GOOD Google review and GET A FREE FANTA.” This is basically PAYING for reviews, which is SO WRONG. A restaurant should earn positive reviews through GREAT SERVICE, not bribes.

When we arrived, we had 45 minutes before closing, and things started off well. The food was DELICIOUS, and the initial service was fine. BUT THEN, everything FELL APART.

In the middle of eating, the server RUDELY rushed over with the debit machine 📟 and demanded we PAY. I was literally eating at that moment, and her rushing caused me to SPILL soy sauce all over my top. She didn’t apologize and just walked away. A few minutes later—still more than 10 minutes before closing—she came back AGAIN, saying, “We’re closing, can you please settle up?”

I explained POLITELY, “No, not right now. I’m eating and don’t want to touch a machine that could spread GERMS, especially when it involves my health.” Instead of understanding, she looked visibly ANGRY 😠 and walked away.

When we FINISHED eating and were ready to pay, she completely IGNORED us even though the restaurant was EMPTY. Her behavior was so RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL that I decided NOT to leave a tip—something I was fully prepared to do at the start. I just couldn’t reward her TERRIBLE attitude and lack of professionalism.

As we left, the COOK (who might be the owner) glared at us through the window, looking ANGRY 😡, while the server LAUGHED at us. This was incredibly UNPROFESSIONAL and made us feel INTIMIDATED.

A restaurant is MORE than just food—it’s about the EXPERIENCE, which includes SERVICE, respect, and professionalism. This place FAILED MISERABLY. 👎 It’s honestly SAD because the food was great, but the service RUINED everything.

BEWARE of the glowing reviews—they’re likely incentivized. Don’t be fooled by a “free Fanta” 🥤. Good restaurants EARN good reviews with QUALITY, not cheap tactics.

Sushi way! An excellent place to eat! Awesome food, service and atmosphere. I have only been here twice, now, but I have to say the dinner was amazing! I had avocado salmon sushi roll, and It was delicious. It had a generous amount of salmon! The other roll I ate was the smoked salmon roll! This one was also tasty! The salmon on top was smoked and flavorful, and the crab filling paired with avocado really hit the spot! And as appetizer I enjoyed their amazing chicken karage. They give a very large amount; worth every cent! The catering(service) was great! Not sure what you people would call outstanding, but in my opinion it was the best. I immediately was seated given chopsticks and menus. They brought the food quite quickly, 10 minutes or more, maybe. And when I left I got a free candy and pop(pops coz of this review, their having a special event. Write a review on google maps, get a free pop.). The mood was nice. I was there early, round 5, so it was quiet and I was the only customer. It's cool inside and spacious. Plenty of seating alot of light. Amazing for casual and formal meals. If you know what's good for you, you will give this place a visit. It's worth your time, money and future. 5...

Upon entering the quaint and welcoming Japanese restaurant, I was greeted with a warm smile from the courteous servers. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, with soothing background music and tasteful decor.

The servers were very nice and attentive, making sure to check in on me periodically without being intrusive. Their politeness and helpfulness added to the charm of the dining experience.

Despite the longer wait time for the food, it was well worth it. The piping hot dishes arrived fresh and perfectly cooked. To my delight, the restaurant had kindly provided a complimentary appetizer to enjoy while I waited.

The portions were nothing short of generous. However, the chicken teriyaki dish I ordered was loaded with too many veggies, which detracted from the flavor and texture of the dish.

Overall, my experience at the restaurant was delightful. Despite the minor issue with the teriyaki dish, the ambiance, hospitality, and quality of food were all exceptional. I would certainly return in the future to sample more of the...
