Disappointed with How Café Gift Cards Were Handled
My husband and I have been regular customers, driving all the way from North Vancouver to Coquitlam just to enjoy breakfast bowls at this café. I got a gift card expecting to use it for casual meals, only to find out the café closed shortly afterward; without any notice to those buying gift cards.
Stephanie, the owner, now says the Cafe gift cards can only be redeemed for group catering orders, which is very different from ordering for two or four people. The gift card was bought with the expectation of casual visits, not catering events. Had we known the cafĂ© was closing and switching exclusively to catering, we wouldnât have encouraged the business with a gift card. Continuing to sell them without informing customers feels unfair and unethical.
I tried to work with Stephanie to find a fair solution, but she refused to make any accommodations. This approach doesnât reflect good business integrity or respect for customers. Itâs deeply disappointing, and because of this lack of integrity, I cannot recommend this business for gathering events (even if the...
Read moreMy husband and I had the pleasure of visiting this quaint little restaurant this weekend after getting tired of the fast food while on vacation.
I had the Waffle Benny and he had the Bacon Cheddar Sandwich. I didn't get a lot of feedback from him, just a couple of grunts between bites but he barely came up for air which I took as a good thing. The combo of waffles and Benny made me uncertain but I was pleasantly surprised. I would definitely recommend the food.
The service was impeccable! Although the restaurant was extremely busy, we were greeted with a smile and the server (I can't remember her name) was super helpful in answering all of my questions. She was personable and made us feel welcome. I definitely wouldn't be able to do that good of a job in such a busy place.
My only critique would be to perhaps hire someone else to help with service (prep, bussing tables, making drinks/coffee) so that one person doesn't have to do it all.
We'll be back, for sure, next time we're...
Read moreWent there yesterday for the first time for a brunch. Usually brunches leave me feeling stuffed for the entire day, but this was nice and light! Which I honestly preferred. The vegan benny was very different than what you usually see, with chickpea patties instead of English muffins, and a beat hollandaise. Very flavorful! The only downside was the coffee. We noticed its foam was unusually dark (like a REALLY black foam), and when we drank it... wow, that was insanely strong. Should not have finished the entire cup, we all felt shaky, nauseated and went to the bathroom a few times. This weird feeling lasted for the entire day, we couldn't sleep at night. And we're used to drinking coffee every single day. I'm not taking stars out for that, it's an honest mistake. Just thought I should mention so that the barista is a bit more careful in the future. Aside from that, the place is super cute and cozy, with blankets and cushions on the chairs. A hidden...
