BFF BAR & GRILL — Restaurant in Prince George

I gave this restaurant a mediocre rating, as I feel they give the appearance to be give star but are lacking in done area's, my reasoning is as follows. Today we ate here as it looked good. I found the steak portion to be the smallest I've ever seen but was delicious. The calamari was amazing, there shrimp is battered so I didn't eat it I checked there menu does not mention that it's breaded, The gravy was powdery not very good at all, poutine was good and huge portion, poppers are good with a great amount of pop, the flavours were there they just were not five star, then we got cheesecake for dessert, I was served a Carmel coating cheesecake which is not what I ordered , I was never spoken to about this change and as I can't have Carmel I didn't eat it, others that ordered the save recieved the New York style cheesecake with fruit topping , also the cheesecake per slice is around 12 dollars , I have no issue paying 12 dollars for cheesecake if it is deserved a 12 dollar peice of cheesecake I would expect a baked cheesecake not the pre frozen President's choice slice I was served, there is a vast difference, so my table spent well over 250 dollars here trying a few plates to be slightly disappointed in the portion and flavour of the food. I feel I would have gotten better portions and a baked cheesecake at the keg with a bigger steak , but if you want something different then try here it's good and nice for a change but be leary of the cheesecake. I was really excited to try this place as I like to support local and try new restaurants in town. The presentation of the food as you can see in the pictures looks beautiful, the salmon was awesome, the Calamari was tasty but noticed some random fries in the mix, that was kinda odd, the Steak in the salad was suppose to be cooked medium it was dry and bland, the seasonings in the salad was all over the place I don't know what flavour profile this salad was going for but a mash up of flavours that did not taste right. The avocado tasted funky, I sent it back and didn't order anything to replace it as I was instantly turned off from wanting to order anything else on the menu. My husband's burger was overcooked and the bacon was undercooked and there was literally calamari pieces mixed in his fries. This was suppose to be a nice anniversary dinner for us but was disappointing. They sat us outside when clearly there was only a couple tables of people inside and lots of tables. The picnic style tables outside were uncomfortable. I checked the reviews for this place before we went and it had glowing reviews, are you kidding me ? Well here is a real review, this place is not somewhere you want to go if you have some expectations on food quality. The server was absolutely pleasant and friendly, she is a great server. Slightly hidden, (behind McDonalds on 15th) absolute gem. Tonnes of parking, easy-ish to get to. Beautiful and sweet Kayla served our food... with the perfect amount of service... not too in your face... while you're trying to eat... but ensured we were happy and satisfied. Best paralyzer I've had since Club 770...yes, I'm old... and since we're on confessions... I eat out... WAY too often... and the food here was top teir. I had the small steak, it came with mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus and red pepper...and I got the mushroom sauce. The steak was perfect... medium... pink but not really any blood... and best part... I could actually chew it... not sure I remember the last time I had a steak cooked so perfectly. (Sorry Mr Mikes) The mushroom sauce was delicious and different...the asparagus... scrumtious. My daughter had a cheeseburger with fries... and of course I had to try a couple... with the gravy... again, DELICIOUS!!! And my daughter enjoyed it too...(They have a kids section on the menu) Perfect place for a date... a little more class, good music... but not so loud you cannot talk... AND not too busy... TRULY...
