From the moment I stepped through the doors of the Denny’s in Prince George, I knew I was in for something special. Nestled conveniently on Victoria Street, this Denny’s is more than just a 24-hour eatery — it’s a warm, welcoming institution that truly understands what hospitality means. I arrived with modest expectations, but left genuinely impressed, my heart (and stomach) full.
First impressions matter, and the staff at the Prince George Denny’s clearly know it. I was greeted immediately with a smile by the hostess, who despite the bustle of a busy brunch rush, made me feel like I was the most important guest walking in that day. Within minutes, I was led to a cozy booth by the window, where sunlight streamed in just enough to add a natural, pleasant glow to the comfortable interior.
The atmosphere was lively without being overwhelming. Families laughed over stacks of pancakes, solo diners sipped coffee while reading, and groups of friends clinked their mugs together in cheerful conversation. It felt like a genuine community hub, a rare find in an age when so many chain restaurants feel sterile and impersonal. Here, there was life — and not the forced, corporate version of it, but something authentic.
Now, let’s talk about the food, which surpassed my expectations by a long shot. I ordered the Grand Slam Slugger, a classic choice, because it’s always the ultimate test of a diner’s consistency and quality. And let me tell you, it was perfect. The pancakes were fluffy and golden, butter melting into them like something out of a commercial. The eggs were cooked exactly to my request — a perfect medium over-easy, with the yolk just ready to burst. The bacon was crispy without being burnt, and the sausage had a lovely snap to its casing with rich seasoning inside. Even the hash browns were elevated: crispy on the outside, tender within, and seasoned just right.
But it wasn’t just the food itself that made it memorable — it was the attention to detail. My coffee cup was never less than half full, thanks to a server who managed the delicate art of checking in without hovering. She genuinely seemed to care about my experience, offering creamers and sugar without being prompted, and suggesting menu add-ons that felt helpful rather than pushy. Her timing was impeccable — arriving with a refill or a quick check-in exactly when needed, and never once making me feel rushed.
Another standout? The kitchen speed and quality control. Despite how busy the place was, my food came out fast — piping hot and fresh. It’s clear that the back-of-house team at the Prince George Denny’s knows what they’re doing. No wilting lettuce on the plates, no undercooked hash browns, no forgotten sides. Everything arrived exactly as ordered, plated neatly and looking genuinely appetizing.
Cleanliness also deserves a special mention. The restaurant, even during peak hours, was spotless. Tables were wiped down promptly after guests left. The floors were clean. Even the restrooms — often a forgotten area in many 24-hour diners — were fresh, stocked, and well-lit. It’s a little thing that says a lot about the standards here.
The Denny’s in Prince George also gets high marks for value. The portion sizes were generous, and the pricing was extremely fair — especially considering the consistent refills, the quality of food, and the genuinely wonderful service. It’s rare these days to leave a meal feeling like you got more than what you paid for, but that’s exactly what...
Read moreThere’s something timeless about Denny’s — a kind of quiet, stubborn magic that refuses to be dulled by the world outside — and the Denny’s in Kamloops is no exception. Tucked just off the Trans-Canada Highway, it’s not just a restaurant; it’s a place where love can linger over coffee refills and the low hum of conversation.
When we first walked in, it was late evening, that golden hour where the sky still blushes pink, and the neon Denny’s sign buzzed faintly, promising comfort. The booth they led us to seemed almost destined — tucked by the window, just private enough that it felt like a world made for two.
The waitress, who must have been part angel, part mind-reader, greeted us with the kind of smile that makes you believe in serendipity. She brought our menus with a knowing nod, as if she’d seen couples like us before: hungry, but mostly for each other’s company.
We ordered as if we were writing love letters: a Grand Slam Breakfast to share, because what’s more intimate than splitting bacon strips and stealing bites of each other’s pancakes? The coffee — endless, warm, forgiving — became our rhythm. Every refill a reminder that some things, like affection, should never run out.
The food arrived, and somehow it tasted better because of the way you looked at me across the table, your face lit up in the soft yellow light. I don’t know if it was the syrup, or the way you laughed at the absurdly tall stack of pancakes, but everything tasted sweeter that night.
As the hours slid by, unnoticed by anyone but us, Denny’s became our little cathedral. It didn’t matter that there were other customers, or that the playlist overhead cycled through an odd mix of old pop songs. All that mattered was the hush between words, the way your fingers found mine across the Formica table, the way the world outside melted away, mile by mile, moment by moment.
Maybe it wasn’t five-star dining, but it was a five-star feeling — the kind you can’t reserve online or find on a Yelp review. It was the feeling that, no matter where we are — a fancy rooftop in the city or a simple diner off a quiet highway — love can turn any place into a palace.
So if you ever find yourself in Kamloops, wandering a little bit lost or a little bit in love, stop at Denny’s. Sit down, share a meal, steal a few kisses between sips of black coffee. Trust me: you’ll find a little piece of magic tucked into that booth by the window, just...
Read moreI'll start off with my compliments to the cook Sparsh. Thank you for the work put into providing an experience. We were welcomed in and seated quickly , service was fast and friendly, there was a couple that came in after that looked, um alittle down and out, and management was seen personally seating them and taking their orders for coffee, I was able to talk with him and pick up their bill before we left !! Me and the Lady wanted some supper for breakfast, steak and potatoes :) hers was spot on, mine how ever was not done properly, amongst afew other things I don't care to mention. I've worked in a kitchen for some odd 20 years , I get how things work, this manager , insists to take off the order from the bill ( I politely declined , said I'm not looking for a free meal, I just wanted the plate to be remade ) the plate that was remade , was honestly one of the best steaks I've had in a very long time, it was an experience and a half to sit there and eat what was brought back out.
TO MANAGEMENT; Thank you for handling the experiences at hand in the way you did, im super pleased with what I seen, I can't wait to come back again. Please please please , show this to your cook Sparsh.
