As an English-speaking diner managing extensive food allergies, traveling in Quebec City was a major challenge. Several other restaurants on Rue St-Joseph had outright refused to make any effort to serve me anything. I was exhausted and wondering whether I would find anything to eat at all my first night in the city, when I came upon Bati. Even though I knew they would be using several ingredients in the kitchen that I am allergic to, the host, chef, and staff at the takeout counter made me feel valued and protected. Bati uses fresh ingredients and chefs cook from scratch, so although they were busy, they were fully capable of preparing a meal of spicy lemongrass beef and vegetable stir-fry with rice for me that was not only safe, but was also delicious and an absolute joy to taste. They saved me from what could have been a very sad culture of tourist health discrimination in what is considered a modern, international city. I returned the next night as well, after several more attempts to unsuccessfully order food downtown. I can't thank Bati enough for their attentive service and dedication to clean, healthy,...
Read moreI don’t normally run out to write a five star review for many restaurants. This restaurant has surpassed any expectation that I had. The flavors, the presentation, the smells, the portions, the accommodation, the service, everything has been above and beyond. If I could leave higher than a five star rating I would. I never have a problem spending on food, but to receive the quality that we did tonight was a true present to us. The flavors and the quality and the love that has gone into every bite that we have eaten is above and beyond. If you are living in this area or visit and you enjoy this type of cuisine, you are doing yourself a disservice by not trying this place out Hands-down some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Thank you to everybody who put their love into this meal. I wish we lived closer, I would be here...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I can’t speak highly enough about our experience! As American tourists, this is the most welcome we’ve felt in any restaurant in Québec! The host was extremely polite and personable and spoke perfect English. Our waitress was also very courteous and asked how we were liking the city! I had the street style Pad Thai and it was the best I’ve ever had! My girlfriend had the Saolin’ Beef, which she also enjoyed - just like Thai food should be: sweet and salty and not too spicy!! The restaurant also offers a great deal where you get soup, an app, your entree, dessert and a hot beverage. Should we ever find ourselves in Québec City again, we will definitely be visiting Bati Bassac first! This is, hands down, the easiest five-star review that I have ever given...
